SSPX vs. FSSPX[edit]

FSSPX is the official acronym of the official name of the Fraternitas [not ‘Societas’] Sacerdotalis Sancti Pii X , given to that body by its founder, Archbishop Lefebvre, and accordingly used (as far as I can see) everywhere except in the English-speaking world. SSPX is the acronym of the English words Society of St. Pius X, a mistranslation which among other things excludes the all-important fact that only duly ordained clerics can be members of Mgr Lefebvre’s organisation. It is high time to admit that wishful-thinking busybodies have been at work here, and accordingly to restore the official acronym in the English-speaking world. There are enough parish-pump jealousies without this one. Pamino (talk) 10:41, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
