All Time Low are not alternative rock

Alternative rock is Nirvana. Modern alt rock bands are Anarbor, The Dangerous Summer, and Anberlin and they have a distinctive sound. All Time Low is pop punk and pop rock, but definitely not alt rock.

'Rock' band?

All Time Low has always been known as a pop punk band. Alex Gaskarth stated in an interview their new album will have a rock sound but until the album is out, there isn't a source to call them rock. Jkim4007 (talk) 18:38, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

AfD?

How does this meet the Notability requirement for an Article in Wikipedia? Briefly stated, a band needs to meet at least one of these requirements, otherwise the Article should be deleted:

  • has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable, e.g., newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, and television documentaries
  • has had a charted hit on any national music chart
  • has gone on an international or national concert tour
  • has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)
  • has won a major music award, such as a Grammy
  • has won or placed in a major music competition
  • has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network

Frankly, the first (most recently named one of Alternative Press's bands to watch in 2007 [1]) and the third (see article, many U.S. tours including the Warped Tour) requirements are met. --HarryCane 13:40, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, OK. I've added the significant Alternative Press "bands to watch in 2007" info. to the lead. JGHowes 20:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
And they've also had a national tour...headlining it, in fact. They're definitely worthy of their own article. 165.235.8.8 (talk) 17:52, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, what happened to the article about Jack!? Mrs. Barakat

That was a borderline attack article, and besides, the guy really doensn't have much going for him beyond the band itself, so it makes more sense to put relevant information here instead. That article now redirects here. Chubbles 02:44, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Band Members

does anyone else think that there should be articles about the band members? I tried making them before but someone kept deleting them and i don't know why. does anyone else think there should be articles about them?Matt 2601 atl (talk) 11:19, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I definitely do. They are a band that's recognized enough and at least Alex and Jack deserve their own pages. Zack and Rian tend to stay in the background more and there isn't much to say about them (that I know of), but Alex especially because he writes the songs and well...there's a lot to say about him. Same goes for Jack...just not as much as Alex. 165.235.8.8 (talk) 17:53, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
The reason why is because Wikipedia has criteria on what topics deserve their own article. The guideline involved is Wikipedia:Notability. For music topics, there is a secondary article discussing minimum criteria at WP:BAND. Chances are, the article was deleted because the information was not supported by independent secondary sources. Individual articles for the band members probably shouldn't be created until such an article can meet those criteria. -Verdatum (talk) 01:57, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Specifically, "Members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases."  JGHowes talk 03:15, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
    • I see no one's going to clean up Wiki. You only want to delete the independent articles of smaller, less popular bands. No one's going to do jack shit about the Kele Okereke article or any of his band members because Bloc Party's popular. If you're going to not allow an article on Alex Gaskarth (I agree that the other members don't need their own articles, but Alex deserves one), then don't allow articles for each and every single one of Bloc Party's members. The same goes for other bands, I just don't feel like pointing them all out right now. 12.185.22.200 (talk) 19:45, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Well there definitely needs to be quite a bit of cleanup around Wiki because I've seen quite a few independent pages for band members that do not meet that criteria. Check Anberlin's members. Really only Stephen has the right to have his independent page. The pages for the other band members should be deleted. Also, all the guys from Bloc Party have their individual pages. Their pages simply give detailed information on their backgrounds and their personal lives along with info on the instruments they play. Those seem to be accepted. If we were to make an individual page for Alex Gaskarth that resembeled the one for Kele Okereke, would it be kept or deleted?

Isn't it Alexx?

i thought the guy's name had two x's.

No, you're wrong. His name is Alexander William Gaskarth. One X. Check their Buzznet page, which they have control of themselves. It's one X.

All Time Low's UK debutt

{{editsemiprotected}}

This article says that All Time Low made their UK debut at the 2008 Give It A Name festival supporting the Plain White T's. This is incorrect. They did play at the 2008 GIAN fest., as did Plain White T's, but All Time Low's UK debut was back in September 2007 supporting the Plain White T's on their UK tour.

All time low tours

Do they do a holiday tour every year? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.115.26.39 (talk) 05:18, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Weightless not a single

Weightless isn't a single. They're simply showing it to us before the album comes out. I'm gonna see if I can find it, but I distinctly remember Jack (maybe it was Alex, but I'm sure it was Jack) saying that it wasn't a single.

Nope, its the single.... Its the first single off the new album, They released it shortly before starting the Believers Never die part deux tour in order to allow fans to get a taste of the new record, and build up anticipation for the release.

Yes, but that doesn't make it a single. Releasing a song to the public doesn't mean it's a single off the album. I'm gonna try to gather some evidence and present it to Kiac. TanisterATL (talk) 22:19, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Can we have references for this? I've seen multiple people on either side of the argument, but neither has provided a valid citation. It should be removed until evidence is added from a WP:Reliable source. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 04:54, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Surely the page is due for a clean up now and any poor sources removed now? It's been tagged for ages. Most of the sources seem correct. I'm going to edit and structure the article better. (LostLikeTearsInRain) 07 July 2009

I have completed clean up and edit. Added proper sources for charting positions and removed any improper sources. Rearranged some text to reduce introduction and moved relevant text under "History" section. (LostLikeTearsInRain - contribs) 01:08, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I've done a lot of work on it in the last couple of days. Mocked up a neat little photomontage for the infobox (which took ages getting all of the copyright notices done!). Discog is A-okay (thinking about making it its own article). Sources are a lot stronger now, maybe one or two would help, hopefully I come across some interviews or something with the new release having come out. Tours section needs to be merged into the History section, with references. Info on the first EP and album could be extended, but we'll obviously have trouble finding any significant coverage considering they were minimal releases by teenagers. Lead needs fixing up too. Could do with a Musical Style and Influences section and possibly Critical Reception or something, just for a more extensive coverage of the topic at hand. k.i.a.c (talktome - contribs) 12:15, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

{{editsemiprotected}} In the introduction on the page for the band "All Time Low" two of the members are introduced incorrectly. It is only a minor error, however the paragraph states "The band consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Alexander Gaskarth, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Jack Barakat...". It is true that Barakat is a backing vocalist and Gaskarth is lead vocals. It is not true however that Gaskarth is rhythm guitarist. The paragraph should state "...vocalist and lead guitarist Alexander Gaskarth, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Jack Barakat...". This information is correct according to the band's official Myspace music page (http://myspace.com/alltimelow).

Shouldn't ATL's associated acts be changed? They are hardly associated with MetroStation! They are MUCH more associated with Blink...especially since Alex has co-written songs with Mark Hoppus and they both had hands in City (Comma) State. It would only make sense to remove MetroStation as an associated act, add Blink in its place, remove Boys Like Girls (they're hardly associated with them either), and add City (Comma) State in its place. Their association to Fall Out Boy makes sense, as do their associations with New Found Glory and Hey Monday (Rian's dating Cassadee). Metro and BLG need to go and be replaced with Blink & CCS. This is just coming from a hardcore ATL fan. (: 12.238.88.5 (talk) 18:42, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

How is Blink stretching it? If they must share current or former members to be "associated" with another band or artist, then ATL shouldn't have any "associated acts". All Time Low has always been Alex, Jack, Rian, and Zack. That has never changed. I still think Metro Station (especially since they're no longer together) and Boys Like Girls should be removed from their "associated acts" area. 12.238.88.5 (talk) 18:35, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

So why is it that theses additional genres in the infobox "Pop punk[1][2][3] pop rock,[4] emo-pop[5][6]" Get removed? Surely to verify genres and their addition to the article is seems controlling to delete them and not use them in the article. I believe it stems from just not liking it, despite they highlight that the band isn't straight up pop punk and incorporate other elements.

The primary photo is 5 years out of date. I found a few images on the web, and would like to see the picture changed to something a little more recent. Examples of more recent photos would be the top image here, the top image here, or images 3 or 5 here. If needed, I'm sure that a related group to the band (management, record label, or the band themselves) would be willing to provide an image for this purpose. It is in their best interest, after all, to help maintain an up to date page on Wikipedia, and help correct erroneous changes. Njwag (talk) 13:57, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Not done all those images are clearly copyright - If you wish to contact the band and suggest they upload a copyright free image (which can be used by others for any purpose) I suggest you contact them yourself - Arjayay (talk) 14:02, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

emo pop?

Is serious? That genre not exist! Biruxx (talk) 19:29, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

We have a whole emo pop article where you can learn all about it. And the statement that this bad is that genre is cited to a reliable source. DMacks (talk) 20:23, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Touring members

Apparently none of All Time Low's touring members are "RSs" and that's why they shouldn't be in the article. But what does "RS" mean ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.60.18.156 (talk) 18:26, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 3 external links on All Time Low. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Picture of All Time Low in 2011

There's a pic of them in the article that says the picture is from 2011. that picture is definitely from 2007 or 2008, alex's hair is much longer there than it was in 2011, and jack's hair was styled better in 2011. can someone confirm this and change its description? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.141.6.209 (talk) 04:38, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Updates Required (April 2016)

Since this page was last updated, their have been multiple events in the band's career. These can all go under the "Future Hearts to Present" section.

- In the existing paragraph, 'they will be headlining' can be corrected to 'they headlined'
- The band won four awards at the 2015 Alternative Press Music Awards (source - http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/07/apmas_all_time_low_dominate_wi.html)
- A music video for "Runaways" was released on August 25, 2015 and contained footage from the Future Hearts tour (source - http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/watch_all_time_lows_new_runaways_music_video)
- The band also toured in Canada and Asia in support of the album (source for Canada - https://suprtickets.com/blog/all-time-low-announce-future-hearts-tour-dates-for-canada/)
- The band featured in the movie Fan Girl, with Alex Gaskarth performing a cameo acting role (source - http://www.rocksound.tv/news/read/heres-a-trailer-for-that-movie-about-all-time-low)
- They also completed a tour in the autumn of 2015, co-headlining with Sleeping With Sirens, entitled the "Back to the Future Hearts Tour" and supported by One OK Rock and Neck Deep (source - http://www.kerrang.com/33511/time-low-sleeping-sirens-announce-back-future-hearts-tour/)
- This tour was continued in the UK but only by All Time Low, this time with support from Good Charlotte and Against the Current (source - http://www.kerrang.com/35090/time-low-confirm-back-future-hearts-2016-uk-tour/)
- The band are set to release the music video for fourth single "Missing You" on April 5, 2016. (source - http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/watch_a_preview_for_all_time_lows_new_video)

I understand that perhaps not all of this can be included without more concrete sources, but with the page being frequented so often, especially with the band's rapidly rising popularity, it should definitely be more up to date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.182.88.32 (talk) 21:14, April 4, 2016

Partly doneThe list here appears very scattered and is very difficult to incorporate everything requested here. Some of the points appear more to be just little pieces of news that is not easy to transcribe into paragraph form. I've incorporated some of the awards, touring, and music video suggestions.  — Andy W. (talk · contrib) 04:01, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

I was going to add to the bottom of the page's main article: On July 6th 2016 they announced the long awaited sequel to their live cd/dvd, titled "Straight to DVD II" due for release August 26th, through Hopeless.

Oh and here's the source: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHkZMmSgxSh/?taken-by=alltimelow Bring me the Oli (talk) 10:07, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Not done. In my opinion, this doesn't meet general notability guidelines for the subject's article. Also Instagram is not what is considered a reliable source. Cabasco Bay 23:56, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Rhythm/Lead guitar?

I don't think it's correct to say that Jack plays the lead guitar and Alex plays the rhythm guitar, expecially in the live performances where it's pretty clear that Alex plays the solos and Jack plays the rhythm part. The "lead" part Jack plays during choruses and verses are just harmonies, not lead parts, so I think that part must be changed. These harmonies are not even always played by Jack live, but they are often played by the backing guitarist. Alex in an interview for Alternative Press stated that he records the majority of the guitar parts (including often the harmonic parts) just to save time in the recording process because he writes the songs. I think they should be both credited as "guitars" and not "lead guitar" and "rhythm guitar". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.57.132.106 (talk) 09:39, 31 October 2016 (UTC) It's been almost 8 months.
