Speaking of WP:DE, where is the evidence that the cricketeer and the lieutenant[1] are even the same person? And please don't use ancestry as a reference, it is not a reliable website (and only duplicates the other source [2] anyway). Fram (talk) 13:29, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support redirect. Notability is highly questionable (only meeting the cricket guideline, which has repeatedly been shown not have community support). No substantial sources. Clearly not enough content to provide any depth and sustain a standalone article. wjematherplease leave a message...13:11, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support one line articles don't add value, and don't meet WP:GNG. This redirect tells the reader the same amount as the article does- namely that they played for Border cricket team. Joseph2302 (talk)14:13, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose This redirect proposal is created for a bigger reason and may have impact on WP:NSPORTS. Above only users are voting who take part in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Notability (sports)#Cricket; (most of the users who are known to dislike WP:NSPORTS WP:NCRIC at all). Only the few readers of this section at WP:NSPORTS will known this discussion here on this talk page. A broaders discussion involving other people would be valuable; reading WP:ATD-R, AFD would be a better place to discuss this redirect/discussion. SportsOlympic (talk) 14:37, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Claiming that everyone who has voted is known to dislike WP:NSPORTS WP:NCRIC is a massive assumption, and doesn't necessarily negate their arguments. And is not entirely true- I'm broadly supportive of NSPORTS criteria, however I believe it shouldn't just be used as a blanket statement. And there is not enough coverage of this person to warrant a stand alone article. Joseph2302 (talk)14:51, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@SportsOlympic: ATD-R states: "Suitable venues for seeking a consensus if a redirection is challenged include the article's talk page and Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion." Since a redirect is sought, rather than deletion, what leads you to the conclusion that AFD is a better place to discuss this? Cbl62 (talk) 15:10, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose As Lugnuts says I do think this is being done to prove a point. Perhaps the redirect discussion could be renominated by someone else standing in better faith and then we could have a proper discussion. CreativeNorth (talk) 18:19, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support There is no way that a article like this can ever be expanded into any decent article. it'd be better to do list articles for sports team members. Like what was done for Playboy playmates and FBI Ten Most wanted fugitives - which are similar to sports in which people are interested in them, but there's not enough reliable information for anything other than a stub. They'd all fit nicely into a list. Articles like this and ones like Demetrious Johnson (American football) are pointless and have to be dealt with. GuzzyG (talk) 22:19, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
