Is he really notable enough for a biography? I haave my doubts. His acheivements as a firefighter or bartender aren't particularly noteworthy. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 11:24, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well he was the father of one of the most famous singers ever known. I just made the article to pass the time, but It would be good if it stayed up. Why not? If it is up for deletion, parts from this should be at least added into franks biography. Adden Combe (talk) 14:58 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Notability is not inherited. This is a very clear and uncontested wikipedia policy. Whose father he was has no relevance whatsoever. complainer (talk) 16:01, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I initiated this discussion four years ago, and I have now come to reluctantly accept the exsistence of biographies like this owing the depth of references. The sheer number of articles on relations of Presidents of the United States et al is further testament to the fact. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 16:35, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean, but in this specific case, the only good source is #1, which only reports the guy's name. That shouldn't be ground for a separate article, otherwise, we'd have one for each inhabitant of Chicago, whose phone directory is considered extremely reliable. complainer (talk) 19:10, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. The sources are terrible in this particular article, but the content could be sourced to any of the brilliant biographies of his son. The page was originally kept as it was felt he passed the notability criteria as an athlete... Gareth E Kegg (talk) 00:37, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
