[edit]I think a sceenshot would be better then that artwork of TNBA's Bane. Or, we could even put in an original Batman: TAS sceenshot of him! What does everyone think? Claycrow 16:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- He looks basically the same in both TAS and TNBA, so it doesn't really matter. --The Dark Lord of Wiki (talk) 14:53, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
WikiProject Comics B-Class Assesment required
[edit]This article needs the B-Class checklist filled in to remain a B-Class article for the Comics WikiProject. If the checklist is not filled in by 7th August this article will be re-assessed as C-Class. The checklist should be filled out referencing the guidance given at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/B-Class criteria. For further details please contact the Comics WikiProject. Comics-awb (talk) 15:29, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Seems to tick the boxes but if it is to aim for higher quality ratings the publication history will need expanding so it has more depth and also covers character development, etc. and the plot will need trimming back - all in line with WP:WAF and WP:PLOT. (Emperor (talk) 21:10, 1 January 2009 (UTC))
Chronology?
[edit]There seem to be some temporal issues in the legacy part of the article. Bame is supposed to search for his father from around a time from 1995 to the correpsonding miniseries in 1998. Yet is it metioned that he teams up with Al'Ghul in 1996. This does not make sense, because it would mean that Bane reverted from good to bad and then to good again. Ist also does not make sense, that Batman beacks up Banes Search for his fahther, if they had a falling out in the meantime of such a scale (i.e. their rematch, which was also metioned to have happened around that time)).
So their is either a problem with the reported timeline or with the wirting of the artciel, which is quite unaccurate concerning the details of metioned timeline. I can't correct this, as I'm not in possesion of all the neccesary comic books. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.56.142.15 (talk) 21:22, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

GA Review

Starting review, checking quick fail criteria. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:06, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Quick fail criteria assessment
- The article completely lacks reliable sources – see Wikipedia:Verifiability.
- The topic is treated in an obviously non-neutral way – see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.
- There are cleanup banners that are obviously still valid, including cleanup, wikify, NPOV, unreferenced or large numbers of fact, clarifyme, or similar tags.
- The article is or has been the subject of ongoing or recent, unresolved edit wars.
- The article specifically concerns a rapidly unfolding current event with a definite endpoint.
✓ Pass no problems there. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:11, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Checking against GA criteria
[edit]- It is reasonably well written.
- a (prose):
- Publication history: ✓ Pass
- Fictional character biography: "The origin of Bane has similarities with another fictional character, Alexandre Dumas' Edmond Dantès." looks like [[WP:OR to me. Jezhotwells (talk) 15:32, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Powers and abilities: one citation needed tag needs addressing.
- Television: ✓ Pass
- Film: ✓ Pass
- Video games: in DC Universe online a reference is needed.
- Toys: ✓ Pass
- Lead: it is generally considered best to not reference statements in the lead as they should be referenced in the main article.
The statement about Bane being intended as a "dark mirror" of Doc Savage, should be be put in the Publication history section and perhaps slightly amplified.Jezhotwells (talk) 23:34, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

- On consideration, and after checking out other WP:Wikiproject Comics articles in the GA category, I agree. Perhaps a hard look at e.g. Lex Luthor or even FA Batman would give some sense of the style that should be aimed for.Jezhotwells (talk) 13:56, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

But #2 is broken,#33 does not support the statement that Bane is a character in the game, #34 doesn't mention Bane or the actor, #38 & #39 should explicitly state that they are from the Internet archive, #40 doesn't support the statements cited, #41 links to Batman's buggy, no mention of Bane. I assume WP:AGF for the printed material not available on line. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:12, 14 April 2009 (UTC) The replacement source used for #2 absoluteastronomy.com takes it material from Wikipedia so is not a reliable source. #29 dc.wikia is not a WP:RS, #36 does not mention Bane, neither does #37. #41 doesn't mention Bane, #43, #44 need to be correctly attributed to the Internet Archive. #45 doesn't mention Bane, neither does #46. Jezhotwells (talk) 15:24, 14 April 2009 (UTC)Reference #4 is interesting as much of the text in the Fictional biography appears to be lifetd staright from it. that is grounds for immediately failing the nomination on WP:COPYVIO (Copyright violation) Jezhotwells (talk) 13:51, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Ok, I made a mistake there - completed missed the GFDL compliancy tag on that page. I still would like to see the Fictional biography trimmed as per previous remarks. Jezhotwells (talk) 15:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)- Reference #29 is to a blog which is not allowed; same for reference #30; refrence #35 does not support the statement The caretaker later enters a catatonic state from an overdose of Venom during a fight with Terry McGinnis, Bruce Wayne's successor as Batman.; reference #36 is another wiki which is not allowable as a WP:RS; reference #42 doesn't mention Batman Beyond; reference #43 doesn't mention Bane; neither does reference #44; neither does #45; neither does #48; #52 does not support the statements "Each came packaged with a figure stand specific to that particular series, with no other accessories." or "Both versions of this figure came with a small "Osito" accessory, although many of the first version seem to have been shipped to stores without."; #53 does not mention Bane or his hideout. OK as explained above, I am failing this nomination due to the copyright violations detected in the Fictional biography section. I have placed a notice on the page and on your talk page. It would be in your best interests to remove all copy-vio material ASAP and rewrite it. If you are doing so then you can remove the notice on the artcile page and I would suggest that you put up an under construction stag whilst you re-write it. When you have done, feel free to renominate. Jezhotwells (talk) 13:51, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
My mistake, see above, review reinstated. Will check the new references later. Jezhotwells (talk) 15:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- OK, there are still a lot of references which are either unacceptable or do not support the statements that they are attched to.
- The Fictional biography still needs to be heavily trimmed. Please address these issues. Reamining on hold. Jezhotwells (talk) 20:21, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I see that although there has been a lot of editing the poiNts raised in my review have not been addressed. I am not awarding GA status. Please bring back to WP:GAN when these points have been addressed. Jezhotwells (talk) 16:48, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Plot
[edit]This article relies too heavily on plot rather than on sourced statements from secondary sources. It needs better balancing to conform more closely with our manual of style on this point. See WP:WAF for more details. Hiding T 09:24, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Father's Life Sentence?
[edit]"Bane was born to serve the life sentence of his father" What? I know this is a comic book, but this doesn't make any sense... Bane's dad fathered him so he could serve his sentence for him? -- Norvy (talk) 17:04, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- If I recall, that's pretty much it. It was one of those 'let's show how backwards, sadisitc, and horrible Santa Prisca is, to explain why he's so evil... total 'product if his environment', 'nature over nurture' stuff. ThuranX (talk) 21:28, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Stop it OK?
[edit]Stop saying that Bane may appear in Arkham City, you have no proof of that and it's just a rumor. Bane's hand showing up at the end it's nothing special because it may as well be Scarecrow's or Killer Croc's hand. It's completely random and irrelevant. The only villains confirmed are the Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Hugo Strange, Mr Freeze, Zsasz, the Riddler and Calendar Man. Until they let us in more on the villains of Arkham City, Bane appearing doesn't have any grounding AT ALL. (200.106.220.170 (talk) 14:23, 5 March 2011 (UTC))
- Comment: You've to give short summary with all your edits specially when you're removing content from any article, because it may create factual or chronological errors, and it is very much clear from your edit history that you're here on Wikipedia just for removing things without any explanations. I've warned you six-times for this kind of malicious act, but you didn't respond for anyone; you ain't following good faith edit policy but spreading vandalism only. Bill william comptonTalk 14:35, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- I may with others, but in the case with the Bane page, this is an unconfirmed rumor that suddenly you're treating like a fact. If it would be always just Bane's hand then it could be something more valuably but they always show all three different hands because Croc, Scarecrow and Bane all ended up in the water at the end of the game. It's nothing special. Same with Steve Trevor. When there was ever a show where he and Wonder Woman went to Batman and Catwoman's funerals? I think you're confusing TV with some elseworlds comic. (200.106.220.170 (talk) 14:44, 5 March 2011 (UTC))
- And I have to agree with 200., Wikipedia is not a place for speculation or rumor. Is there a source other than fan/player speculation that Bane will be included in the next video game? Is there anything that justifies stating "This could possibly mean that he may appear in Batman: Arkham City." is weaseling at best. If we do not know, and cannot know the content of the coming game, we do not get to speculate. Period.
- And to be clear: identifying 200.'s edits to this page as "vandalism" is incorrect - here they are within the norms of contributing to Wikipedia for the betterment of the encyclopedia.

The Dark Night Rises Official Bane Photo
[edit]Okay, so The Dark Knight Rises has now released the first official photo of Bane! Can someone who knows what they're doing (which is not me) put the photo up? Thanks! 74.192.45.152 (talk) 18:48, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- We'll see. There is no rush. I noticed the image but not on anywhere I can download it yet. Jhenderson 777 18:58, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Here is a picture you can download by right-click: [1]. I agree that it should be added to the article. It's a publicity shot that was released so it should be OK to add it. Besides which, it's just badass and would really add to the atmosphere of the article. I'd do it myself but am not sure about uploading pics to WikiCommons or whatever. Translation of Peña Dura wrong?
[edit]It certainly does not mean "Hard rock". Peña means sentence, and dura is an adjective meaning tough. The usual translation for Peña Dura is "last sentence". Julienvr (talk)
- No, peña means rock; pena means punishment. Angr (talk) 21:41, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Image of broken bat?
[edit]Someone deleted the bane breaking batman's back image, i do not know why. Farhadpersia (talk) 21:08, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- It has been fixed. Someone vandalized part of the relevant section, removing the pic, the vandalism was then removed by someone who was not aware of the original content meaning that the image was temporally removed. In the end it was not deleted so I was able to add it again.--70.49.81.140 (talk) 04:30, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Removal of the film material
[edit]Since there is Bane in other media, having a section dedicated to the 2012 film character is in appropriate. Either all of the IOM material goes to that articles or it gets merged back here.
- J Greb (talk) 11:57, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
Merger of Bane in other media
[edit]I propose to merge Bane in other media into this article, possibly in reduced form. The reason for this is that the topic of the character's treatment in media other than comics is apparently not, as such, the subject of discussion in reliable sources. The article Bane in other media therefore fails the guideline WP:GNG and would need to be deleted if it is not merged. Sandstein 00:50, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- Just one question, which is pertinent to other pages I'd like to edit. What is the guideline as to how long a character summary from another piece of media should be? When merging, it'll be inevitably cut down...the only question is to how much should be left behind. A sentence or two? I do think some sections of Bane in other media are simply unnecessarily long. I'll try to find some RS in the coming weeks such as reviews by professionals from professional outlets. Easyjusteasy (talk) 02:54, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- The rule of thumb should be to try and keep the plot dump minimal and the real world context sourced. With films, the sections shouldn't be used to repeat the plot summary from the film article or bypass the word cap to add minute details. With the TV shows, the focus should be how the character was adapted, not plot summaries of the individual episodes. (And things like South Part are bullet points sans images at best.)
- That being said, the FCB here can use a trim at the same time...
- - J Greb (talk) 06:30, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- Minimize this plot dump and merge. Doczilla @SUPERHEROLOGIST 02:27, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Photo in "Powers and Abilities" section
[edit]The photo of Tom Hardy's Bane is out of place, and should be replaced/removed. The focus of this article is on the comics version of the character; the film versions are not addressed at all in this section. It may have a place on the Bane in other media page, but is irrelevant to this article. Zargabaath 17:49, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed. I thought for a long time but I decided to remove it since I wasn't the only one. Jhenderson 777 21:10, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
