Removal of some material about the Thin Thirty

[edit]

Just a heads-up to anyone who's interested: I've removed a substantial amount of material about a book called the Thin Thirty, which covers a University of Kentucky team that post-dated Collier's tenure as coach. The asserted link between Collier and the Thin Thirty is that he recruited some of the players who were on this team. I think this link is tenuous at best, and probably deserves only a passing mention if it is discussed at all. Collier, after all, was not directly involved with the Thin Thirty team. The part about the Thin Thirty, moreover, appeared to me to be promoting the book instead of simply reciting facts. If there are any disagreements, please discuss here and perhaps we can find a consensus.--Batard0 (talk) 08:48, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll review this article shortly. Wizardman 22:49, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, as always. I'm here to respond to any and all issues and make changes. --Batard0 (talk) 04:14, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the issues I found:

  • I feel like the Kentucky section is a bit lacking compared to the rest of the article given that he spent eight seasons there. Then again, they were an average team at the time so not sure what else could be added.
    • I'll see what I can do. There's not a ton in the sources I have about this period, probably because he didn't win anything significant, but perhaps I can get some more detail on how that experience shaped him as a coach. I'll look for additional sources on this. --Batard0 (talk) 16:29, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Prose-wise, I found no grammatical errors, though there are a few sections where the language gets iffy, but it's in context for the most part and certainly better than in previous articles. (not sure if frozen Green Bay and Wind-whipped Cleveland is necessary, for example)

Just do another prose double-check and I'll be happy to pass this. Article will be on hold and I'll do another read through to make sure I didn't miss anything. Wizardman 16:20, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looks better now. The extra Kentucky info actually helps a great deal, gives me a better understanding of him as a college coach. Since my concerns are addressed, I'll pass the article. Wizardman 17:01, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
