My changes

[edit]

Hi, just wanted to explain my changes. First, as far as I know (English is not my native language, so I might be wrong), "senior" is abbreviated with a dot. At least that's how it's usually done on Wikipedia. "Sr" isn't Boas last name, but means "senior", as there was/is also a "Boa Jr." in her community. Second, I took out the mentioning of Bo being 65,000 years old and stemming from the pre-neolithic times, which is obvious nonsense and the invention of some journalists which was then copied from report to report. Anvita Abbi herself said that this is a meaningless invention, so I took it out. I also made other minor changes to the style, but they are self-explaining, I think. Now it seems that I have messed up a reference tag but I can't find where it is right now, sorry. — N-true (talk) 13:33, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: I also corrected the date now, as she died on January 26, according to her obituary. I also wanted to move the page to the correct Boa Sr. but that doesn't work... I feel stupid today. ;) — N-true (talk) 13:40, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct that Boa Sr.'s name was always spelled with a period. Since there is a page Boa Sr. (the correct spelling), we can't move the page ourselves. An admin must move the page. There was some disagreement a couple of weeks ago about whether there was a period or not (there is), so someone stupidly moved this page away from "Boa Sr." (Taivo (talk) 14:41, 23 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Sr NOT "Senior"

[edit]

Her name is always written as "Sr", never as "Senior". This must be changed back. --Taivo (talk) 06:55, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

Comments by Taivo

TaivoLinguist added and then removed the following comment:

' All the sources on Boa Sr spell the second part of her name as Sr without a period. We had fixed this long ago, but apparently some editor incorrectly moved the page (at a time when I wasn't looking). It is not "Sr." or "Senior", it is just "Sr". '

I restore the comment to this talk page as it seems relevant and constructive. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 05:18, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Boa Sr.Boa Sr – Per MOS:JR and MOS:ENGVAR/MOS:TIES. This part of the world, to the extent it uses English at all, uses a localisation of British/Commonwealth English, not American, and so the contraction "Sr" should not a have a stop/period at the end of it. See threads above this RM for additional comments.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  10:59, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
