"House" of Borghese!
[edit]"House of Borghese" indeed. ...House of Borghese sounds to me like the leather and fake fur salon at a less-than-quite stylish suburban mall. "Borghese" would be more direct, though it wouldn't express the Wikipedian idea of what's grand-sounding. Adding "family" is unnecessary: the article Savelli was retitled Savelli family by some confident American editor whom I supposed was imperfectly familiar with reading or talking about "the Savelli" or "the Borghese". --Wetman (talk) 01:16, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

House of Borghese → Borghese – No need for disambiguation, see comment above, this is a redirect. Gryffindor (talk) 23:25, 18 January 2021 (UTC) —Relisting. Jack Frost (talk) 07:10, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- A little taken aback by my former harshness, but the post wouldn't have been funny if it weren't pretty well true. Wetman (talk) 19:34, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose for WP:RECOGNIZABILITY and WP:NATURALNESS. I think that a shortened title would look artificial. I wouldn't mind moving to Borghese family for consistency. No such user (talk) 11:08, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose, per WP:PRECISION: The current title states clearly what the article is about; the proposed title is ambiguous (could be a surname page, a redirect to a notable person of that name, or a variety of things (even a leather salon!). WP:PRECISION allows for more precise titles (even if primary) to seek a more natural and recognizable title. The current title is also consistent with other, similar titles (Anson family, House of Amboise etc.), though "Borghese family" is fine by me if the current title is too grand-sounding. - Support as per proposer and Wetman. –Srnec (talk) 01:50, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:CONSISTENT. Other similar articles on Wikipedia, such as Habsburg, use this formatting even when the family name is the primary redirect to the royal house. Rreagan007 (talk) 18:59, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- A comment: This proposal was one of about a dozen similar suggestions made last month, all but one of which was closed without moving. Can I suggest that there is currently no consensus to move these, either? Moonraker12 (talk) 10:09, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- (PS: On the other hand, see below. Moonraker12 (talk) 10:19, 8 February 2021 (UTC))
- Support Borghese family per below. Johnbod (talk) 14:10, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
Page move, again
[edit](pinging Gryffindor, Jack Frost, Wetman, No such user, Srnec, Rreagan007. Moonraker12 (talk) 10:25, 8 February 2021 (UTC))
Regarding the Requested Move (above) I’m unclear whether the issue is too much precision, or too much pretension. If the former, can I suggest that, as the majority of other, similar pages (see categories of British, French, (majorities) and even German and Italian (about two-thirds) noble families, to consider just the largest) seem to be disambiguated in some way, moving to a simple undisambiguated form needs to be a bigger discussion somewhere: Wikipedia:WikiProject Royalty and Nobility, for example, or Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation.
Contrariwise, if it is the latter, a move to "Borghese family" would be sufficient, and (as I think we are all OK with that, at least) it could be done as an uncontroversial move (closing the one above). Thoughts? Moonraker12 (talk) 10:17, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
