Delete "Controversies section", per BLP

[edit]

The article has had severe violations of core Wikipedia policies, especially WP:NPOV and WP:BLP. For example, the article has had the false accusation that "There have been reports that WikiLeaks has documents proving Carl Bildt is a US spy" when there was at least one document from 1977 summarizing a discussion between Bildt and a US diplomat, with different opinions about whether Bildt divulged private information or information already published in Swedish newspapers.

There are similar problems throughout this section. I think it needs to be deleted, and then the sections vetted on this talk page before they can be returned, per WP:BLP.

This is not how BLP works. The controversies around this politician are numerous and well-documented in media, and this article can therefore describe them with proper refs. Accusations are really not a problem if they're notable. Anonimski (talk) 21:29, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Still, while controversies are fine when well-sourced and not WP:UNDUE (the section seems way too large compared to the rest of the article to me), controversy-sections are to be avoided, they are generally a sign of sub-par editing. Controversies should be in their proper place in the article, not singled out to a specific section, see WP:CSECTION. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:30, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, old discussion. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:31, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that most of these aren't even "controversies". It's just stuff he did.Volunteer Marek (talk) 05:47, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Life after politics"

[edit]

1. Although it may be a conventional Wikipedia section name, in my view, consideration should be given to renaming this section or rearranging the material more appropriately. The section's name seems to me highly misleading, due to the fact that many of the organisations listed, that (presumably) Bildt serves or served on, are clearly political/Political organisations. For example, the European Council on Foreign Relations of which he is currently co-chair. The subsection "Advisor of Ukraine's President and LetterOne group" is also clearly a Political activity, since it is concerned with Ukrainian and international Politics.

It may well be accurate to describe all this as Bildt's "post representational political life", but to me it is clear that Bildt has not yet retired from politics or even Politics, so a section with this name ought, so far, to be empty!

Indeed, even today, Bildt is Politically active:

https://twitter.com/carlbildt/status/1500318569921458184 (6 March 2022)

2. The subsection "Non-profit organizations" is simply a list of organisations. It makes no statement about Carl Bildt's relationship to any of them. Ambiguity of this kind is, in my view, inappropriate for an encyclopaedic work. What is Wikipedia actually trying to say about Bildt, here, in relation to each of these organisations? Such things ought not to be left to the reader's imagination but stated explicitly. Would editor(s) who have included this content perhaps like to clarify, by explicit statements, what they mean?
