[edit]

Judging from Mew's behavioral patterns and observations of those who knew her, it appears that she suffered from bipolar illness as did some of her siblings. A descent into depression is a symptom of this illness. OwenBrooke, 18 April 2010

"The death of her sister caused her to descend into depression" is NOT A DIAGNOSIS! Please see also the Talk Page of the Category:People diagnosed with clinical depression.

What is "C" class?

[edit]

Could someone briefly explain what 'C class articles' means? Is it a comment on the subject of the article or the quality? Cheers and thanks Miles Quest (talk) 16:52, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An explanation is provided through the links above to each WikiProject's criteria. You may have to click on a "show" link to see the explanatory links. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 17:23, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ref formatting

[edit]

Sorry I am new and have tried to insert refs for a couple of minor edits to this page but I am getting the wrong format. Could someone possibly tell me what I am doing wrong? Then I will correct myself and get it right henceforth I hope! Thanks very much Miles Quest (talk) 10:15, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I find Refill helpful. I expect there are better tools available. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 16:27, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
According to the poetryfoundation.org ref, it was just edited. Any idea how that happened? --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 16:39, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks on the advice re refill. Will hopefully get the hang of it. I don't quite understand what you mean re: the poetryfoundation.org ref - is it a bad source? Cheers Miles Quest (talk) 19:41, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again! - if you mean the ref was edited twice by me that's right - I did it once and it looked odd on the page so edited again to try to get it right. Would you mind explaining to me your formal role on wikipedia btw - do you mentor newcomers? Thanks very much Miles Quest (talk) 20:11, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I consider myself a Wikipedia janitor, cleaning up messes. As such, I spend way too much time working in areas of Wikipedia with long-running behavioral problems.
WP:MENTOR should point you to where you can find a mentor or similar support with your editing.
The actual poetryfoundation.org webpage was edited just today, which I found very concerning. I've found an old version to compare against, and there have been no changes. False alarm. My apologies. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 20:34, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks Hipal/Ronz for letting me know about WP:MENTOR - will go and have a look. And good to know your role too. Glad there was nothing wrong with poetryfoundation - thanks for letting me know. Cheers Miles Quest (talk) 20:44, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still looking at poetryfoundation, but I'm in no hurry. It should be fine here. Better references are always preferred, and I expect they are available. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 21:32, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - this is such a beautifully written page with great information. I am just wondering about how to incorporate new research by Julia Copus who disagrees with the extant scholarship on Charlotte Mew (eg the notion that Mew dressed in "masculine" attire and was a lesbian - Copus suggests there is no evidence for either.) Copus's biography is very recent but has been well-received. I wonder also if it might be a tad sexist to have information about Mew's dress sense in the first section about her? it is very interesting but I just wonder if this approach would be applied also to a male author! But maybe it is fudmanetal to questions about Mew's identity so fine. I am a bit clueless about the edits and have had a big red notice come up after editing - I think I used the template for other edits which was wrong. Will try to fix. Many thanks for any help anyone can give - with best I am the same as Miles Quest above - just lost my password. Thanks!
