Chen Lu vs. Lu Chen
[edit]In many Asian languages and cultures the surname of a person is listed first and the given name comes second. On Wikipedia we, as a community, have done a good job of respecting this tradition by listing surnames before given names. However, more than any other Chinese name (or at least elite Chinese athlete) I have seen this skater's name listed in both manners. For example, during her career she was primarily known as Lu Chen (at least in American media), but now I see her name written as Chen Lu. Does anyone know definitively which is her surname and thus, which should be listed first?--MorrisIV (talk) 01:06, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
Her surname is Chen (陳) and her full name is written as Chen Lu (陳露) in Chinese. Sometimes East Asian people convert their names to the Western order in English. --hou26 15:01, 11 April 2014 (UTC+8)

With references and a photo, and maybe a little more order, this would be a B.

Discussion
[edit]Removed following fictitious/sarcastic content:
"Chen is also the reigning chinese chess champion and has written her own fantasy role playing book. She fences and loves italian men. She is nominated for the nobel prize for her research to cure childhood obesity and cancer in small land mammels.
Once, she was skating in france and a woman came up to her and said "My little girl is dying and her dream is to meet you." Chen agreed and when she placed her hand on the little girls face, she was immediately cured of the aggressive cancer that had taken over body. Not really. But it could have happened." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.63.251.147 (talk • contribs)
Needs sources

Butterfly on Ice
[edit]- Is the comment on her being known as "Butterfly on Ice" really necessary? If we put down every name her fans had called her, we could fill up a book. Just my two cents. Mysterypaw
