Luxon's role at Unilever Canada[edit]

It seems that Luxon's final role at Unilever Canada (CEO and President) is overstated. Unilever's CEO is London based and was never Chris Luxon. Unilever Canada would have had a Regional Manager, as a subsidiary of Unilever Global, a London based company. Doubt that Unilever would have multiple CEOs and can find no reference to roles of CEO nor President on the Unilever Canada website. 35waita (talk) 19:23, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

can find no references to Luxon as Unilever Canada CEO. The only unbiased, verifiable links state that he was general manager. I don’t think we can use theories about what Unilever Canada “would have had” to determine his roles there. The blogs that you added (incl [1]) suggest that GM was the role filled by Luxon, and then by John LeBoutillier, but elsewhere LeBoutillier lists his position at Unilever Canada as “President and CEO” ([2]). I honestly can’t find good evidence online one way or the other on the title Unilever used circa 2008, nor what Luxon did there, other than his own Linkedin, but I’m inclined to believe him, even if only because it would be weird to lie publicly about such a role and not be called out by Unilever. I also suspect that GM is a title that the branding agencies are used to dealing with, but of course it does introduce a little confusion into the mix.
I really don’t want to start second-guessing this sort of stuff in general either. We rely on party websites for a lot of information about members and candidates, mostly degrees and education, but it would be a problem to have to go through them all to remove. I hear what you're saying. However Wikipedia requires verifiability in its articles. The only references that I could find that dated from around Luxon's time in Toronto list him as GM. Linkedin is a social media site and 'facts' are not verified. I could make myself CEO and President of Unilever Woolamaloo on Linkedin and that would be accepted by Linkedin. In fact, that is on my Linkedin profile. I have been trying to get some verification from Unilever of Luxon's roles with them to no avail. They referred me to Linkedin, so I referred them to my profile, just as an example of social media fallacy. So the only unbiased sources are the ones that I posted, listing Luxon as GM. The role of Unilever CEO is London based. To the best of my knowledge, most companies only have one CEO. 35waita (talk) 23:51, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So we're still quoting social media as fact! This is the problem that I have with recent articles and their sourcing info from unverified sources. I can only assume the same about the Herald article (that I can't see anyway). My links to Luxon's role at Unilever as GM pre-date any 'spin' or white-washing that has occurred since 2018 . They date to the time that Luxon was actually in Toronto. They are are from business publications, so I'm sure they would be fairly accurate.
For the record I have no bias here, it's just that this President and CEO title sounded a bit self-aggrandising. He is titled in my links as GM, which was his first role at AirNZ.
It's my hope that we can resolve this, but we need to impartial and accurate, two things that social media is not.

Minister of National Security and Intelligence[edit]

@Kiwiz1338 - If a prime minister concurrently holds a ministerial position, it will always include the "prime minister" parameter and having = "Himself".

This has been the practice on virtually every relevant article on Wikipedia.

See the infoboxes of Robert Muldoon and Scott Morrison as examples of prime ministers concurrently holding ministerial positions.

I think it's not included because it is always held concurrently with Prime Minister. It's the same as how the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is also First Lord of the Treasury, but that is never shown in the infobox of PMs such as Rishi Sunak.
