The result of the move request was: not moved. I'd suggest splitting this up and just going again with descriptive titles. Jenks24 (talk) 12:51, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

– Although they are both correct, the spelling "Dahomean" is more common than "Dahomeyan". (Try a Google Ngram.) Srnec (talk) 03:37, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Procedural close This RM is flawed as it bundles two different things. Although it's appropriate to bundle the election articles as they have formulaic titles (and I would probably support them being moved), the political parties are proper names, and therefore the "common" use of the term Dahomean/Dahomeyan by itself is not relevant. For instance, "Dahomean Democratic Rally" only has 10 Google Book hits compared to 26 for the current title. These should be decided on an individual basis, or at least bundled with consideration for what the individual common names are. Number 57 03:56, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- That would be relevant if the official names were English. Are any of them? I would presume they are all French. Thus we are dealing with two permissible translations of Dahoméen. In certain specific cases (Dahomeyan Unity Party, Dahomeyan Democratic Rally) the current adjective is more popular on Google Books. In others (Dahomean Democratic Union, Dahomean Democratic Movement, Dahomean Progressive Union) the proposed title is more common. But since we're dealing with translations, I don't think we should decide these on a case-by-case basis.
As an aside, I note that Republican Party of Dahomey appears to be a translation of Parti Républicain Dahoméen. Yet on Google Books I can easily find Dahomeyan Republican Party as a translation of Parti Republicain du Dahomey! Srnec (talk) 15:34, 4 January 2016 (UTC)- WP:COMMONNAME still applies to translated names – i.e. how it's most commonly translated. Number 57 15:49, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose – a questionable "more common" claim is a weak argument for a massive rename. Dicklyon (talk) 05:57, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- What's questionable? See this ngram. At Google Scholar, I get 1080 results for Dahomeyan and 3090 for Dahomean. "Dahomean" is overwhelmingly more common. Srnec (talk) 13:18, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
