Squad Update

[edit]

Can someone please update the squad now, i removed colm Kearney as i know he is playing at larne now.

Agree with above. We're coming to the end of the 2006-7 season so why does the article still refer to the 2005-6 mens squad? Unfortunately I don't know enough about the club to do it myself. Valenciano 19:23, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Player's nationalities

[edit]

I've removed the players nationalities entirely. Everyone born in NI has the right to be either British or Irish and until a source is provided for individual players opting to play for one Ireland or the other it comes under the heading of unverified info. Valenciano 17:30, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Despite the above comment, they are all still set as Northern Ireland. After the Daniel Kearns ruling, all holders of Irish citizenship in Northern Ireland are allowed to play for the Irish national team, therefore rendering the nationalities stated in the squad article incorrect (unless all have British citizenship, which I highly doubt) as they are both Irish and can play for the Irish national team. There's therefore no way they should have any other flag beside their names. The note saying that it is under FIFA eligibility that theyhave been categorised is therefore incorrect, as FIFA have stated that they can play for the Republic of Ireland. I've added a note on the article, until somebody can find a source with their citizenship. Basically the note there already was out of date, and somebody with access to more information needs to update it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.79.165.247 (talk) 17:22, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of Glasgow Celtic in this article? The influence of GC should be noted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dabhoy (talkcontribs) 19:01, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copied text from the club's website?

[edit]

The History part of the article resembles very much the history page on the club's website. All of them aren't identical, but several sentences are, and some parts have only been changed slightly. Is this acceptable? For all I know, the club history could be based on the Wikipedia article, but somehow that seems less likely to me. I have just translated much of the article for a Norwegian article about the club, but I feel a bit uneasy when I see how similar these parts are. Blue Elf (talk) 21:25, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not really, no. Diff responsible. I've tagged the section, although I wouldn't be uncomfortable with just undoing the initial dump and starting over. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 10:15, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your solution implemented. I've restored the last clean content. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:55, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
