Tribunal
[edit]The fee is not set by a tribunal. The tribunal that is referred to by the sources is to determine his eligibility for a work permit. See: [1] and [2]--Jahalive (talk) 02:40, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- I have provided a reference which shows it will be decided by tribunal. There is both a work permit tribunal and a transfer fee tribunal in the UK. You have quoted two references which don't even mention a fee and one of those is from a tabloid and thus not a reliable source. Also quoting press speculation as to what a fee "might" be is hardly encyclopedic. If a fee is not given by either club, we don't "know" it. --Egghead06 (talk) 06:20, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- You think the decision on his work permit is made by a tribunal and his transfer fee is set by a tribunal?--Jahalive (talk) 07:49, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- Sources [3] and [4] confirm the granting of a work permit (for which there is a tribunal if required) and the setting of his fee, again for which there is a tribunal in the UK as shown above. I believe this verifies the use of a transfer tribunal but not the use of a work permit tribunal. Guess they would only need to use this if the UK gov had turned him down. They didn't. From both our viewpoints, when he completes the move on 1/1/15, the club will announce details of fees and length of contract. All we know now is the intended signing and the granting of the work permit.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:13, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- Then how do you explain this sentence: "The 21-year-old, who was signed by Apollon Limassol earlier this year and then loaned back to the MLS, faces a tribunal to earn a work permit."[5]?--Jahalive (talk) 08:21, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- Regardless of the conjecture of the Daily Mirror (!), please provide a reliable source to show a tribunal was used for the granting of a work permit. Visas without issue do not need a tribunal [6]. Thanks.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:28, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- The compensation tribunal you referred to above, in the article about Nathaniel Clyne, is to compensate English clubs when a player that has been developed in their academies leaves without a transfer agreement. That clearly does not apply to Doneil Henry. The best explanation for the ClubCall sub-headline you are citing is that the writer has misinterpreted Allardyce's quote "We are looking at the situation but it will be a tribunal, work permit situation" and that Allardyce was talking about a work permit tribunal. ClubCall is not a more respected, mainstream source than the Daily Mirror.
- Quoting press reports on transfer fees is standard practice on Wikipedia. Many transfer fees are not released by the clubs. The 1.5 million pound transfer fee reported in The Canadian Press citation that you removed should be restored.--Jahalive (talk) 09:15, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- How do we know what Allardyce meant? As for the estimated fee in the Canadian press it comes under guess work. As for the work permit tribunal, where is the reliable source to say one was used?--Egghead06 (talk) 09:45, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- The Daily Mirror is a reliable source in this context to support that a work permit tribunal was to be involved.--Jahalive (talk) 10:12, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

It doesn't look like we will reach an agreement on this so I suggest a compromise:
- 1) Regardless of what tribunal or tribunals are involved they are not going to be an important part of Mr. Henry's career. We don't need to mention any tribunal in the article.
- or
- 2) If you think it is essential to mention the tribunal, include Mr. Allardyce's quote on the subject and allow readers to interpret it for themsleves.--Jahalive (talk) 18:06, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
- My only aim was to indicate that we do not know the fee and to avoid press speculation. Newspapers often don't know because the clubs don't tell them so they just pull a figure from the air! Other transfers carry info on the fee, the date and the period of contract. In keeping with the season, lets agree West Ham have agreed to sign him and a work permit has been approved. Any more on tribunals, fees etc might be released when he actually joins the club on 1 January. So, in short I'll go with 1).--Egghead06 (talk) 18:24, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
