Recorded tracks[edit]

As a matter of fact NOT all the songs are mentioned in the prose of the article. But if you would like to add them that would be great considering people have spent a lot of time finding and referencing these songs. I would also add that theses songs are songs that have been recorded by Lewis. They may not make the final tracklist but should remain somewhere in the article as evidence that the tracks do exist and where recorded as part of the Echo sessions. Singles[edit]

Is is really necessary to have a seperate section for singles when there is already a small section for promotion? could the two not be incorporate until there is more singles releases and/or more promo info? (Lil-unique1 (talk) 00:15, 6 September 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Timbaland not on the album[edit]

By Leona's homepage, do you mean her website? I don't think we need to expand on it other than say she worked with Timbaland but he didn't make the final cut, and I'd rather use as few primary sources as possible. Erm i dont think we do although we know reports came in around February stating she was in the recording studios and it was then that the news of "dont let me down" appear on Chalice's website although this is difficult to prove (i found the info orginally). I think these recording dates are estimated because it was in September that Harvey Mason Jr posted on his website he was currently in the studio. It is generally also percieved that artists leave around 2-4 weeks for mastering and post-production which working back from a nov release would making recording around feb-sep/oct. but yes there is currently no source exactly documenting this. The track listing has been released[edit]

If we used a table, there would be a line between the cells, so there wouldn't be a problem. I never used to like this track listing tempalte but I kind of do now. Song Sources[edit]

I've been investigating the use of ASCAP and HfA to source recorded songs. I think songs listed in the main body of the article sourced from Harry Fox Songfile System should be removed. The main concern is that it is an example of WP:original research because the source does not specifically say when the song was recorded, when it was added to the publication records or even if it was recorded during the sessions for Echo. I classify it as original research because it is using the assumption that just because the producers/writers of the song "Save Myself" appeared on the other album's tracks it doesnt necessarily mean that this particular song was produced at the same time as others.(Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:18, 20 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

"Stone Hearts & Hand Grenades"[edit]

Format of release table[edit]

Hello, im want to remove the format section of the release history for the following reasons

  1. the deluxe and standard editions are released simulatniously in every source i can search
  2. in some of the sources it is not clear if the album is released digitally or as a CD

Deluxe edition live tracks[edit]

Some reviews from the US are included in the infobox. Can we include foreign language reviews? I haven't seen any but I'm unlikely to as I only search the internet in English. My Hands / Final Fantasy[edit]

Just wanted to open dicussion about the use of the song "My Hands" as the sound track for the latest installment of the Final Fantasy Game series. Whilst this information is crucially notable and should definately be included i debate its location. How can it be used to promote the album if the game is not due out until November 2010? It seems misplaced in this section. Maybe it should be mentioned in the earlier sections which describe who wrote/produced the songs? (Lil-unique1 (talk) 22:02, 14 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]

It doesn't relate to either promotion or production, so if we want it included, it should be in a separate section. Though really I think it belongs in an article about the song. Andy Gill from The Independent wrote that "judging by this safe, careful follow-up to the multi-platinum Spirit, she's not taking any unnecessary chances that might prematurely derail that career. [...] However, while Leona's vocal tics are not yet familiar enough to be irritating, the calculated manner in which each song climbs to its climax tends to curdle its emotional authenticity.[1]


Mike Diver from BBC Music gave a less favourable review, commenting: "Echo is undeniably a bolder affair than its predecessor, but still falls into the same trap of an over reliance on Lewis's voice [...] in favour of developed arrangements [and] its central protagonist simply doesn't stamp her authority on proceedings, [...] there's no character in her performances. Its songs are fine for what they are, and clear improvements on what came before. But [...] Lewis still lacks an album worthy of her international profile.[2]

The critical reception section is supposed to give a balanced view of the album. Rather than moving the information here, the more sensible thing to do would have been to have expanded the reception section with further positive views so that the majority of the section was positive. Believe me i am a massive Leona Lewis fan the last thing i would want to to do put her down but the number of reviews in the critical reception section hardly paints a bleak picture. it is simply a case of saying the positive reviewers said "xyz" the negative reviews said "abc". The infobox gives the jist of how positive the reviews were and once the album is released we can put the statement in the introduction about how positive reviews were. The critical reception section is supposed to give a balanced view of the album. Yes indeed, but "balance" does not equate to a spectrum of opinion and allowing equal weight to both positive and negative reviews. In this instance, Echo has received mostly good reviews, so in order to craft a balanced Reception section, we are required to include mostly positive reviews. I am not wanting to censure harsh criticism or disapproval -- which is why I didn't discard this information completely -- but I do honestly believe the section gave an overly mediocre impression of what most critics say is a very good album. Certificates[edit]

I want to raise the question about Leona's UK certificate. Sources state in week 1 that she has sold 161,000 +. However according to BPI within less than a month she has more than trippled her first week sales figures? Im sorry as much of a leona fan that i am (i've got tickets to see her live) this doesn't seem to ring true. Also when Spirit went to platinum her website posted this information everywhere and it recieved much publicity. Her website mentions no certificates for the album and there appears to be very little media attention surrounding this. So in terms of certificates what does this mean? Does shipped refer to the number of units that the record label produced and sent out to retailers? If so then it is misleading. The article now appears to show that Leona Lewis has sold 600k copies of her album which makes her one of the most successful releases of this year. I've now added the personnel section for the standard UK edition, but "Fly Here Now", "Let It Rain" and "You Don't Care" need to be added, also "Stone Hearts & Hand Grenades" if anyone has that information. I've done it the opposite way to Spirit (listed by form of participation rather than by person) as it makes the list shorter. I know that's not what WP:ALBUMS says we should do but it's what I've done now. I've also added the recording locations for the standard UK edition. This means the infobox needs to be updated, perhaps just a link to the recording locations section could be used? Feel free to clean up my list as you see fit. Could i just say that i think there should be a section underneath Oasis' SCYHO section on their page for Leona's version as she has sung it several times live and it also charted well without being released physically. Plus, i think there should be a "Other CHarted Songs" section in her discography like loads of other singers do. Plus, their is none of this atm, yet there is a SCYHO link in Leona's box at the bottom of all her wiki pages (with albums, singles, featured singles etc.) yet the link only goes to a Oasis version page. Leona's version used to have its own section in the SCYHO article but there's hardly enough information for it to be worthy of a whole section. Maybe if it had been a single there would have been. OK, but i still believe that SCYHO for Leona is still significant for her, she has sang it several times and she has even discussed why she recorded it etc. Plus it charted very well without release, but hey it's not me who decides if something stays or goes. She has sung "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "Whatever It Takes" lots of times too. It's not forbidden, there's just no consensus either way. Because people added them, duh. I didn't put them there! I don't watch those articles. There isn't a consensus on "other charted songs" as Lil-unique has said (he brought it up recentlyon the discography guidelines page). Lewis has performed "The First Time..." a lot more than once. I said ONCE in UK and ONCE in USA. UK was on Diva's Live (and on tour) and USA was the Pre-Grammy Party. and for SCYHO, it is not recognised anywhere how well it has charted. Third Single: It might be "Outta My Head" after all...[edit]

This Italian media website: [4] is reporting that Leona Lewis has a video coming out for upcoming single: "Outta My Head". The translation reads The artist has released two singles: "Love is your color" and "Outta My Head." Collaboration with Jennifer Hudson (the two pop stars have recorded with the song "Love Is Your Colour", a track that will be part of the soundtrack for the film "Sex and the City 2") to success in network with video of the new single "Outta My Head."

Additionally this source [5] from a German media source points to a June re-release for the album.

I changed it yesterday to say he produced "Outta My Head" and not "I Got You". I saw you twice change articles based on errors in other articles (the other was to do with Alexandra Burke).
