Children's writer[edit]

Along with many basic fixes (but see the next section), I made a substantial change in the lead sentence, which is not suggested by my edit summaries.

was: Ellen MacGregor (15 May 1906 – 29 March 1954) was an American author, primarily of children's literature.
now: Ellen MacGregor (May 15, 1906 – March 29, 1954) was an American children's writer. She is known best for the Miss Pickerell series of children's novels.

The article doesn't make clear that she wrote much but children's books and doesn't even hint that anything else belongs in the lead. She is known for Miss Pickerell and little else [unless in the library field], so that belongs in the lead. --P64 (talk) 00:57, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Needs basic organization[edit]

This article needs re-organization from top to bottom. Probably a list of works in the last section of the body, without much prose.

I inserted section 1 heading Life after the former lead sentence (see previous section) and I made many many small fixes such as speling --ha ha, I mean spelling-- and italics and a sound clause here and there. But I did not touch the basic problem that this jumps back and forth. --P64 (talk) 00:59, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
