The result of the move request was: moved. Jenks24 (talk) 12:46, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Everybody's Golf (2011 video game) → Everybody's Golf 6 – All other articles following the naming scheme of using the Japanese release name. Was some confusion before release that the game would simply be called Everybody's Golf. Article needs to be moved to bring it in line with actual name. Non-admin move now impossible due to previous copy and paste move. - X201 (talk) 07:57, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Consensus?
[edit]Hi @Jenks24:,
The previous consensus was about moving the article title from Everybody's Golf (2011 video game) to Everybody's Golf 6. I don't see why that would somehow still be actual about moving it to Hot Shots Golf: Worlf Invitational. I explained on @Sergecross73:'s talk page about the moves. Just to copy and paste:
The Japanese video game series Everybody's Golf uses the European title for its main article, and most of the individual entries do too. Google tells me that the Japanese part in the original title, みんなの, is a direct translation to "everybody's", but I'm not sure if Everybody's Golf is the right title for the English Wikipedia.
- Everybody's Golf was released April 1 in North America as Hot Shots Golf, June 1 in Europe as Everybody's Golf
- Everybody's Golf 3 was not released in Europe, per WP:USEENGLISH, shouldn't that be Hot Shots Golf 3?
- Everybody's Golf 4 was released as Everybody's Golf in Europe, as Hot Shots Golf Fore! in North America
- Everybody's Golf 5 was released as Everybody's Golf: World Tour in Europe, as Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds in North America
- Everybody's Golf 6 was released as Everybody's Golf in Europe, as Hot Shots Golf World Invitational in North America
- Everybody's Golf Portable was released as Everybody's Golf in Europe, as Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee in North America
- Everybody's Golf Portable 2 was released as Everybody's Golf 2 in Europe, as Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 in North America
That the original game saw a North American release before a European one, that 3 did not see a European release and that 4, 6 and Portable were also called Everybody's Golf seems to me that Hot Shots Golf might be a better title for the series. Googling "hot shots golf" brings up 351,000 results, "everybody's golf" 287,000.
So Everybody's Golf 6 is the Japanese title, not its North American title, hence the move. --Soetermans. T / C 12:12, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Soetermans. I have no particular attachment to the current title and I think you make a reasonable case for why the North American title should be used instead of a variation on the European one. But when there has been a previous RM discussion and there was an agreement at the time that "Everybody's Golf 6" was the best title, then we should go through a new RM to see if anyone has any objections. I'm sorry if this sounds a bit like pointless bureaucracy, but please trust me when I say that taking a week out at RM and getting a solid decision there almost invariably results in less time lost in the long run. You're probably already aware, but instructions for starting a new RM are at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting a single page move. Best, Jenks24 (talk) 12:22, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- That...does strike me as unnecessary. The discussion was amongst 2 people, three years ago. If that's all there was, then we've got 2 people for the new title on my talk page - we've already got a new and equal consensus. Also...all these titles are in rough shape and largely un-maintained. This doesn't strike me as controversial... Sergecross73 msg me 13:15, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Also note that their consensus is basically naming it in-line with how the rest of the series was named at the time, which is what our moved was based around as well. Sergecross73 msg me 15:49, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Two people for the new as compared to two people for the old title strikes me as exactly the type of move that should have a discussion. I still maintain that in the long run it is always better to discuss these things; the worst case scenario is that it takes a week long and a lot of people comment along the lines of "Jenks was stupid to insist on this". But ultimately I will leave this up to you and Soetermans. If either of you decide to move again, I won't revert. Best, Jenks24 (talk) 07:51, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- In the interest of lessening bureaucracy and needless arguing, I will probably just move it back, and host a discussion at the point in which someone actually contests it. Sergecross73 msg me 14:10, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
