Notability Concerns
[edit]I quote, "Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."" I believe Glenn Nye clearly fails WP:POLITICIAN; and that Flatterworld was in error to undo the redirect I created. I'll hold off a day or two for replies before I take this to AfD. ratings?
[edit]what are his liberal and conservative ratings? I know he is conservative for a Democrat, but is he Zell Miller type? (As conservative as a Republican?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.82.43.222 (talk) 18:20, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Rescuing US hostages?
[edit]The first paragraph in "Government Career":
"During the Macedonian Conflict in 2001 he helped secure the release of U.S. hostages, and was instrumental in the rescue of 26 American citizens who were trapped behind Albanian insurgent lines at the Battle at Aračinovo"
This sentence gives the impression that US hostages were held by the insurgents, which is wrong, so it should be rephrased. The situation was as follows: 26 US citizens (by some accounts contractors from company MPRI) were at the village consulting the insurgents. When offensive started from Macedonian forces the contractors were trapped in the village under heavy fire. Glenn Nye facilitated for the offensive to stop and transport the US contractors out of the village in a buses, along with the insurgents. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.180.215.122 (talk) 20:14, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- They threatened to bomb Skopje if the assault on Arachinovo didn't stop because of those "hostages". The Chief of Security for the president at the time, Boris Trajkovski, can attest to this. Why bomb Skopje if they are hostages held by the insurgents? 77.28.93.217 (talk) 16:33, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
