Photos
[edit]HJ Mitchell has requested some photos. I often go through Paddington but the article already has a reasonable photo so I'm not understanding what more is wanted. Please advise. Andrew🐉(talk) 13:23, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Argh. You should have asked earlier today, before I set off for Padd en route to m:Meetup/London/176. There were loads of wreaths etc. I won't be there again until January at the earliest. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:53, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Redrose64, I hadn't realised you were attending, though I assume the area around the memorial would be busy on Remembrance Sunday anyway. Andrew, I was hoping for higher-resolution and/or sharper photos of the whole memorial and its setting, of the statue, and of the relief carvings. There's certainly no rush; as you say, the photos we have are adequate, but it would be nice to have a deeper pool to fish from and I know we have plenty of keen photographers in (or passing through) London. - I took a variety of photos today – a mix of detail and long shots. There was a good array of wreaths and other Remembrance Day items which make the scene more colourful. I'll do some cropping and editing and then upload them. The hardest part to photograph was the main statue but we'll see. I also took pictures of Paddington (the bear) and Brunel. - Thryduulf can you help Harry here please? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:00, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
- I'll see what I can do. Thryduulf (talk) 22:12, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

Wreaths
[edit]When taking the photos above, I was impressed by the number of wreaths which were so numerous that they were grouped in three main banks to provide access paths to the doors either side. Reading the article, it seems that this is a recent scheme which started in 2020. My count for 2021 was 190 wreaths plus lots of crosses. Andrew🐉(talk) 09:44, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
- That's remarkable. Thank you very much for the photos, Andrew. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:43, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
