Yards to Metres

[edit]

What's up with converting all the yards to metres? I'm Canadian and love the metric system, but that's just ridiculous! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.241.16.187 (talk) 14:47, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I Added HS, Contract dispute detail, some detail on his all time place as well as IMDB link. Looks like this scentence :

He is also famously known as one of the last white running backs to rush for more than a thousand yards in a season.

Has been added and subtracted a few times. I removed it. I basically agree with the editor who called it out of place. A discussion of Riggins' race could be explored and could be relevant in some contexts - but not as a single sentence out of nowhere among his "accomplishments". Not a Number Retirement

The number retirement wasn't a number retirement, the only number officially retired by the Redskins to date is QB Sammy Baugh's 33. I believe it may have been the dedication of their Ring of Fame placards at RFK. The Ring of Fame celebrated major Washington sports figures from many sports, and is used by the Redskins the way some teams use number retirements to honor past players. I replaced "world championship" with "championship victory", since the NFL is a national championship that, unlike MLB's World Series, never pretended to be a "world" competition. Klod 00:42, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed reference to www.rigginsradio.com as with the canceling of the radio show, it now points to the WTEM/XXX-ESPN radio homepage —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.223.129.4 (talk) 18:19, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How Did Riggins Avoid the Real Draft?

[edit]

How did Riggins, who came of age as a great athlete during the Vietnam War, manage to avoid the real draft as opposed to the football one? As a lifelong Redskins fan, and as a Riggins fan, this would still be very relevant biographical material.

He was enrolled in college which exempted him from the draft. This was one of the controversies of the draft, as white kids could afford to go to college and avoid the draft, while black kids couldn't and were therefore disproportionately drafted and sent to Vietnam.
Also, wasn't Riggins one of the original NFL free agents? __209.179.57.197 (talk) 17:25, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
