Pro Bowl players

[edit]

Teerlinck coached 31 Pro Bowl players: This was added in 2014. However, in the Colts 2011 media guide (p. 24), it says He has had 23 players make the Pro Bowl. 2011 was his last season, and it looks like Freeneyand Mathis were Pro Bowlers that year. So that would be 25. Unless the 31 counts a player multiple times, and 23 was unique players? @Bloom6132: The obituary you cited for the 31 players seems like a WP:CIRCULAR reference, a classic case of the press using Wikipedia, even when it's not verifiable.—Bagumba (talk) 14:55, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Bagumba: The Colts themselves (well, their web writer) state that it was 31. —Bloom6132 (talk) 15:00, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Without a plausible explanation of discrepancy of the 23 in their 2011 media guide, there's no guarantee that the web writer also didn't just pull it from Wikipedia. The best bet would be to find a source for 31 before it was added to Wikipedia in 2014.—Bagumba (talk) 15:07, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, Colts.com also said he coached the 2012 season, which is what Wikipedia also incorrectly said until I just fixed it.—Bagumba (talk) 15:11, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed the number to 23, since I cannot find any pre-2014 source that says 31. —Bloom6132 (talk) 15:15, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Defensive MVPs

[edit]

... including four defensive MVPs: Michael Dean Perry, Chris Doleman, John Randle, and Dwight Freeney.: This was added in 2014 (like at #Pro Bowl players above). Looks like another problem with WP:CIRCULAR.[1] The Colts' media guide says: Teerlinck coached two conference Defensive Players-of-the-Year (Michael Dean Perry, Cleveland, 1989; Chris Doleman, Minnesota, 1992). I did find one for Freeney, but it was the obscure Kansas City Committee of 101 award. Seems like WP:OR at best.—Bagumba (talk) 03:55, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

USFL Career

[edit]

Interesting that there is no mention of his time in the USFL. 2600:6C67:8700:BB1E:C5A4:FFFC:665F:6257 (talk) 13:29, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
