Jonalyn Viray's voice register

[edit]

Jonalyn Viray is classified as spinto soprano (both lyric and dramtic) but when she appeared on Gma's extra challenge, she hitted a whistle note and i cant determine yet if it is on 6th or 7th octave, if it is in 7th, she is a coloratura spinto soprano.

In the video of Jonalyn singing "oh Holy Night" of mariah, she hit Bb6, her highest note so far. She also hit E6 on loving you and F6 on emotions. VERIFIED.

VOCAL RANGE

[edit]

Vocal Range:

Lowest note: C#3- "Can't take that away"

Highest note: Bb6-"Oh Holy Night"

Requested move 28 November 2016

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: No consensus for a name change at this time. Until she is more commonly known by her new name, this is probably premature. (non-admin closure) Bradv 02:20, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jonalyn VirayJona (singer) – Reformating User:Liking You's requested move [1] as a formal move request for discussion since the original cut-and-paste move attempt was undone. Meters (talk) 20:54, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just concerned; since she moved to ABS-CBN, she started using the name Jona alone without using Jonalyn Viray. I believe, it would be better if the her main article would be Jona and not her real name since she is more populary known as Jona in the Philippines. http://www.pep.ph/news/62283/jonalyn-viray-now-a-kapamilya-changes-screen-name-to-jona It's just like Beyoncé, her actual name is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter but her main article on wikipedia is Beyonce and many other artists. I hope I'm making sense in here. Liking You (talk) 04:08, 28 November 2016 (UTC) Meters (talk) 20:54, 28 November 2016 (UTC) reformated as formal move request by Meters (talk) [reply]

I'm not familiar with this singer. What we need to be considered is WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NAMECHANGES. If the new version of her name is what the current sources are using then the title change seems valid. Meters (talk) 21:14, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

She's a popular singer in the Philippines. Previously, she was using her real name but then when she moved a ABS-CBN network, she started handling the name "Jona" instead of her actual name. Her actual fame started just this year when she made the big move. Now, my concern is, for most of the articles you won't see her actual name anymore. In almost all articles regarding her recent updates such as concerts, shows and guestings, journalists are using "Jona". For many who know her, they won't be familiarized if they see her article here as Jonalyn Viray as they'll get confused as she is more populary known as "Jona". • Against - there seems to be little need for this. It appears that the contract with the TV company brought this change. The sourcing of the page is pretty patchy and it would need better ones for it to warrant the name change. At the moment it seems to be largely done for publicity. That changes of course when she releases an album under the name. Karst (talk) 07:47, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree for change to Jona (singer). I understand that it's just recently this year that she used to have that name but knowing that Jona the actual name that she's using right now, then we should take a credit as well for that because most people know her for that name. And yeah it's done for publicity but that's what matters because through fame that's when she becomes familiar to the public and she is popular now so the name that the public knows on her should be what it is as well in wikipedia. I mean, I'm just concerned because there have been many cases like this for many celebrities but if we look at their articles, we would see that the main one is the name that people know about they and not their real name like Kesha instead of Kesha Rose Sebert, Lady Gaga instead of Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and many more. Liking You (talk) 22:56, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
