Correcting title, refocusing article

[edit]

"Karhu Sports" isn't a company nor a brand. Karhu is a brand name, which is owned by a Dutch company Karhu Holding BV, which also manufactures Karhu-branded shoes. Karhu Ski, a Finnish company, makes skis using the same Karhu brand, and Appleby Finland Oy, another Finnish company, produces "Karhu Sportswear". So we have three companies producing three different kind of products under the same brand.

I propose that this article be moved to something like "Karhu (sports brand)", and rewritten to focus on the history of the brand. The corporation infobox might not be appropriate here. Separate articles can then be written about the companies Karhu Holding BV and Karhu Ski, if someone wants to. Cpastern (talk) 18:33, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

In the 1960s Karhu began to use the M-logo,[1] which is still in use on Karhu shoes

What does the M stand for? 108.254.160.23 (talk) 02:07, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Struggling in the 1980s?

[edit]

The section about the company struggling and selling off divisions in the 1980s appears to be off. The article about Merrell states that the Karhu acquired it in 1987 and sold it, after a period of considerable growth under its stewardship, in 1997. The German Karhu and Merrell articles seem to agree, although they don't go into specifics. The Spanish Merrell article also speaks of Karhu selling the brand in 1997.
