Further research
[edit]He was a 6xConference POTW (1/14/92, 1/26/93, 2/16/93, 2/23/93, 11/28/93 and 2/20/94). If researching these would result in links to games played against a lot of important players and against teams with team-season articles, I would research these weeks. However, I think they would result in games against teams that did not have team season articles and for whose players didn't amount to that much. Sorry I am punting this, but I like linking to team-season articles and important players when I do this type of research.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:56, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

- ... that Kenny Williams was the third UIC Flames men's basketball player to have his number retired? Source: https://uicflames.com/news/2016/2/2/uic_to_retire_kenny_williams_no_11_on_february_19.aspx
Created by DaHuzyBru (talk) and TonyTheTiger (talk). Nominated by TonyTheTiger (talk) 05:11, 25 February 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Kenny Williams (UIC basketball); consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.
- Full review to follow, but I'm not really impressed by the hook. It's great that his number was retired and all, but from what I can tell as well as searching about it, the UIC Flames basketball program isn't really that well-known or successful. It also doesn't help that he's the third player to have his number retired; it would have been more intriguing had he been the first. Perhaps if his number was retired by a much more famous program, for example by Duke, maybe the hook would have worked better instead. Maybe a different angle can be proposed here? - ALT that Kenny Williams was the first UIC Flames men's basketball player to score 2000 points?---TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:16, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- This page has been moved to Kenny Williams (basketball, born 1972) now that we have new data. Can an administrator make the necessary set of corrections.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 16:34, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- There's no need to move the actual DYK nom even when the article title changes. That would just further break things. As for the new ALT... eh, it's not great either. It's not uncommon for college or professional players to score thousands of points over their careers, especially if they have long ones. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:00, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- 2000 is not so common. Sure List of NCAA Division I men's basketball career scoring leaders has a few people with 3000+, but 2000 is still a lot.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:21, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

- ALT2... that Kenny Williams set a Polish Basketball League record with 14 three point shots in a game?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:40, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- That sounds much better. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:09, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- Can an admin check if I added a second nominator correctly. I would also like a second opinion on whether anything needs to be done to address the page move.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:14, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- Article meets DYK requirements and a QPQ has been done. ALT2 is the best choice here: the source is in Polish so AGF, but a translation does seem to confirm the information; it's also cited inline. To answer the question above: there's no need to do anything on the page move part. The article can stay where it is, but the title of this nomination page does not need to be changed. I will leave it to the promoter to address the credits part, but I think TonyTheTiger's mention needs to be changed to nominator instead of make? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:55, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- still need an admin to look at the two issues above.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:29, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Restoring Narutolovehinata5's tick after properly adjusting this template's contents to reflect the article move, and confirming that the new DYKmake created by TonyTheTiger is properly constructed. An admin is not needed, just someone who is properly knowledgeable. All DYK templates should be adjusted after their article moves rather than hoping the promoter will catch the name change.
