Move request

[edit]

Even for purposes of distinguishing from Konak (residence), the use of adding (District) in parenthesis is debatable. Other localities called Konak are specified by the country where they are located (Serbia and Bulgaria), but Konak, İzmir is probably more appopriate in the case of this Konak, since there are a few other localities called under the same name in Turkey, and this one is the historical and actual center of the metropolitan area of İzmir. I tried to move myself as I did for Urla, İzmir, but it didn't work. Cretanforever (talk) 11:13, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Support Why is this being debated? Is there any controversy in this rename? Certainly Konak (District), İzmir isn't the right name; per WP:NC:CITY, there's no need for two qualifiers. Additionally, parenthesised terms are not usually capitalised per WP:NCDAB. I don't know enough about this place (or Turkey) to know if this is the correct new name, rather than District of Konak, Konak (district) – note capitalisation – or Konak (İzmir), but I note that the Turkish Wikipedia uses the proposed name. --Rogerb67 (talk) 21:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Konak, IzmirKonak, İzmir – undo move contrary to WP Turkey standard MOS practice In ictu oculi (talk) 20:13, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Konak, Izmir" has been the article's stable name since 2011, [1]. Technical requests, Requests to revert undiscussed moves, is not the place to reverse titles that have been in place for a long time. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 01:55, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
