Konaseema district → Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district – Kindly move the "Konaseema district" page to "Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district" to accurately reflect the official name of the district. Previously some users tried to move the page when its under proposal which caused the error for me while moving. But now its official title of the district. Thanks RevenueDPT✉ 13:34, 11 November 2023 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). – robertsky (talk) 07:22, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

- How come a name existed for 4 months became a common name? Konaseema district formed from East Godavari district in January 2022 and Government proposed to change it to Dr. B. R Ambedkar Konaseema district in May 2022 and officially changed it in June 2022. RevenueDPT✉ 17:52, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. Even its own website commonly uses Konaseema. See WP:OFFICIAL. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:30, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- It was published when the districts were proposed.
- Have you read the Gazette notification? It says,
- "the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, in the interests of public, after having published proposals in that regard as required under sub-section (5) of Section 3 of the Andhra Pradesh Districts (formation) Act, 1974 (Act No.7 of 1974), and having taken into consideration the objections and suggestions received thereon all persons in the areas concerned and likely to be affected thereby, do hereby notify to change the existing name of the Konaseema District as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District."
- And the Advisor to the Government. He says,
- "the decision to rename the district was taken after careful consideration of the composition of the population and demands from local people. “The state government stands by its decision and as per that, we renamed it officially as Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district today." RevenueDPT✉ 15:20, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- It was published when the districts were proposed.
- Move to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district
- 13 new districts formed on April 04, 2022 and all of them having their official names as the titles
- Parvathipuram Manyam district
- Anakapalli district
- Alluri Sitharama Raju district
- Kakinada district
- Eluru district
- Palnadu district
- Bapatla district
- Nandyal district
- Sri Sathya Sai district
- Tirupati district
- Annamayya district
- NTR district
- Except for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district
- Many old places and cities were moved to their official names even though they are not common. For Ex:
- Faizabad district - Ayodhya district
- Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium - Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium
- Allahabad - Prayagraj
- Mughalsarai Junction - Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction railway station
- Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences - Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences
- But the newly formed Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, named after Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, does not fully include the name, indicating a potential casteist bias. This is evident in the protests, incidents of burning politicians' houses, and even in the Wikipedia page title. A review of the page history reveals multiple instances where various users consistently removed Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's name in the district page. Additionally, none of the cities, towns, mandals, constituencies, or villages in this district make any reference to his name.
- The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, through a Gazette notification on Aug 02, 2022, has explicitly stated that, in the interest of the public, and after considering proposals along with objections and suggestions received, the existing name of the Konaseema District is to be changed to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema District.
- I strongly urge the moving of his page to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district to address this issue. RevenueDPT✉ 04:36, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- Once again, you are relying on the official name. We use the WP:COMMONNAME, which is not necessarily the WP:OFFICIALNAME. You have provided absolutely no evidence that the new official name is commonly used, only that it is the official name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:50, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
