Ksenia Semenova Online

[edit]

Earlier a user removed my link to the Ksenia Semenova Online website on the grounds that the link as added was against Wikipedia's policies:

I. In Re: site not being a Reliable Source:

Confirmed: The biography on the website did not cite sources to the required extent to be considered a Reliable Source under Wikipedia's policies. While there are no other problems with the website at the time (the website does NOT use stolen photos from press sites like most fansites. Actually all photos are used with permission, or (a very few) is used under the Fair Use provisions of copyright law from non-commercial sources.), it wasn't able to be added as an external link either because it didn't meet as a reliable source.

Corrections:

Sources now cited better in biography. Website added as a reference in article again.

II. In Re: link was posted with intent to spam:

Contested: The website is a clear resource connecting to the topic of the article, Ksenia Semenova. It is currently the only website in existance dedicated to providing information to the public on the article topic, and has a large amount of information, such as a biography, large photo gallery, and even is supported by Ksenia herself. Therefore, there is a genuine interest in posting the link on the website due to the strong relevance and educational benefit of the site to Wikipedia's visitors.

III. In Re: cites Wikipedia as a source:

Contested: While factually true, this is not a ground for removal of the website. Website shouldn't be removed because it properly gives credit to sources. Website used biography source from Wikipedia under the GNU Free Documentation License, and therefore kept the biography open under the license as required. This is consistent with the philisophy of Wikipedia and the Free Open Source movements and shouldn't be penalized on Wikipedia.

IV. In Re: website can't be added as external link:

Confirmed: For same reasons under section 1.

Conclusion:

In the end I believe the removal was justified, though there's some disagreement as to all of the reasons for it. I've made corrections I believed were required and posted it back. I am posting this here so my position would be clearly understood if someone decides to consider removing the link again.

The lead is too short, per WP:LEAD. There are many sections without a single inline reference. There is a section which starts "As of 2009"... which needs updating (and referencing). The Rambling Man (talk) 20:23, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:SemenovaKsenia5-edit2.jpg to appear as POTD soon

[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:SemenovaKsenia5-edit2.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on December 20, 2012. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2012-12-20. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 17:40, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
