Orphaned references in Lapinjärvi (municipality)
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Lapinjärvi (municipality)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 23:16, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
Renaming the article
[edit]Should Lapinjärvi (municipality) be renamed to Lapinjärvi, Finland, as other municipalities have been named 'name, Finland'? Peltimikko (talk) 00:21, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
Requested move 24 March 2024
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. I see the discussion as having reached a consensus that the municipality is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Lapinjärvi". (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:23, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
– a disambiguator is wholly unnecessary, as the eponymous main village and lake are part of the municipality. Earlier there was a bold move to Lapinjärvi, Finland, meanwhile reverted, that was an equally unnecessary disambiguator. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:15, 24 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - WP:PLACEDAB & Category:Cities and towns in Finland, but just Lapinjärvi is fine too. Peltimikko (talk) 16:48, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nom. I have also fixed the formatting of the nomination per WP:EXPLICIT (by listing the move of the disambiguation page); courtesy pings to @Marcocapelle and Peltimikko. I also want to note that this is a follow-up to Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 March 16#Category:Lapinjärvi (municipality). HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 17:35, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- There are quite a few other different uses though none have articles here. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:35, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- There are a lot of lakes in Finland, but most of them are not notable. In fiwiki there might be an article about each lake, but those are mostly made with a bot. Of the fiwiki articles, only the Lake Lapinjärvi in Lapinjärvi seems to have good sourcing. Even it is much less notable than the municipality. Jähmefyysikko (talk) 15:01, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. I'm not seeing that there is a primary topic between the village, which is the actual Lapinjärvi, and the municipality of which it is the centre. In fact, usually we prioritise actual settlements over artificial agglomerations of settlements as primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:21, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- The name of the village is not Lapinjärvi but Kirkonkylä. This is the name found in maps made by the National Land Survey[1]. It is naturally disambiguated from all other church villages by using the genitive: Lapinjärven kirkonkylä. The accessible refs (3 & 4) and the external links at Lapinjärvi (village) also refer to the village as Lapinjärven Kirkonkylä. Also, there's nothing artificial in municipalities; they are the smallest administrative and democratic units. I did not find any sources that unambiguously refer to the central village (and not the municipality) as Lapinjärvi. Jähmefyysikko (talk) 11:29, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- FYI: I propose a rename Lapinjärvi (village) → Lapinjärven kirkonkylä and a similar rename for few other pages at Talk:Lapinjärvi (village). Jähmefyysikko (talk) 15:07, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Support. See the comments above: most of the lakes are not notable at all, and the central village is not known as Lapinjärvi, but as Lapinjärven kirkonkylä. Jähmefyysikko (talk) 15:04, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Support as the clear primary topic by importance at this title. BD2412 T 16:46, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
