Great work on the list of Marian apparitions. However, the majority of the Marian apparitions is deemed "no decision" by the church and that there are many more negative cases decided by the church. For example, our Lady of Surbiton is a negative case. Showing that there are many no decision and negative cases in the list suggests that those that are approved are really special and has gone through a rigorous process of approval. At present, the list seems to suggest it is quite easy to get approval for the Marian apparition which is not the case. Some reference also provides some statistics of approval (Apparition statistics, Modern: University of Dayton, Ohio): see the Marian apparition wiki page before Cultural impact. It says "In the Catholic Church, approval of a Marian apparition is relatively rare". May be some words that indicate getting approval is rare would clarify the point. I'm open to adding more cases such as this, but I also think it would be difficult from a WP:RS viewpoint obtaining accurate information. The negative cases are often either very obscure or very controversial. For example, Medjugorje has plenty of sources but it's near-impossible to arrive at a neutral coverage of it. Should we cover every "Mary on a piece of toast" type claim that arises? That's difficult. The unapproved apparitions by and large remain obscure and unnoticed because they don't bring fame and fortune, only shame to the promoters. How many notable, unapproved apparitions could be documented in 2000 years' time? Perhaps far too many than we want in the article, or perhaps not enough. Instead of bringing misfortune or shame to the negative cases and no decision cases, may be a short note to the reader of this page at the beginning to say that most cases receive no decision or negative response from the church and only a few was actually approved as some are listed in this web page. Some references to the statistics can help the interested reader to explore. Then, the reader will get the right impression. Acdc250 (talk) 15:18, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
