Current ruler
[edit]Given the list included Mongol rulers it therefore should include the current ruler of Tibet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.180.70 (talk) 00:52, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

I agree with this edit by @Cartakes:.
I’ve always been confused about the relationship between this article (List of rulers of Tibet) and List of political leaders of Tibet. Let’s make it so that List of rulers of Tibet is for pre-modern leaders and List of political leaders of Tibet is for modern leaders. We could change the titles of the articles to make it clearer.
What should the cutoff be? The 13th Dalai Lama’s declaration of independence in 1913? Or the 17-point agreement in 1951? – Greg Pandatshang (talk) 17:28, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. How about doing something like this: adding a section named "Modern political leaders" in this article, which links to List of political leaders of Tibet as the main article as what I am trying to demonstrate in my last edit. At the same time rename the latter article to List of modern political leaders of Tibet, and limit the content to modern rulers. Either of the cutoffs listed above for the renamed article is fine for me, but I think the latter cutoff makes more sense since the period of 1913 to 1951 is already covered by the Ganden Podrang period. --Cartakes (talk) 17:55, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- So, what do you envision as the subject matter of this article? It would be something of a master list linking to other lists?
- As for the cutoff, there's no perfectly clean cutoff date because of the 1951-1959 period of coexistence between the PRC and Ganden Podrang. I have started to think that the Seventeen Point Agreement in 1951 is best option. The "pre-modern" period would include all the Dalai Lamas and silöns that way. Some of them would also need to be included in the modern period, as well, though. – Greg Pandatshang (talk) 02:57, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I consider this article as the master list linking to other lists, such as List of emperors of Tibet and List of Qing imperial residents in Tibet. As for List of modern political leaders of Tibet, I think the focus should be on these PRC rulers (TAR Chairmen etc) of Tibet, but can also mention the rulers of the local Tibetan regime between 1951 and 1959. The title is another thing as long as it is clear and accurate. --Cartakes (talk) 10:28, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
