Location
[edit]This article states that 'The city sits just east of the Great Dividing Range'. Shouldn't that be west?. Certainly my recollection of visiting Lithgow is that it was on the western flank of the Blue Mountains, and the article on the Great Dividing Range implies that the Blue Mountains is a local synonym for the GDR. -- Chris j wood 10:49, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- You are right of course - "east of the GDR" would put it for most folks on the coast. Have updated it.--cjllw | TALK 06:51, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
?? The Blue Mountains is not in the great dividing range. The GDR divides the western flowing rivers from the eastern ones, and the rivers near Lithgow definately flow (eventaully) to the east, as do those in the Blue Mountains. Also, the Zig Zag has not been superceded by engineering methods, rather the results of such methods.
Hi - just removed the [fictitous] description of the Lithgow Shamrocks and Grassy Knowles. Firstly, the Lithgow Shamrocks was a very real junior and senior rugby league club in Lithgow until the mid-1990's, when they merged with the Lithgow Workmen's Club (the other Lithgow Rugby League Club) to become the Lithgow Storm.
Also, Roy and HG do not refer to anyone called Grassy Knowles; they DO, however, refer to Grassy Grannell, who was also very real. Cheers AJ
Well, it won't let me change it, but someone should!!! Cheers AJ
Added it AJ :) Wilko 09:26, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Clean-up tag
[edit]I added the clean-tag to Notable Residents as I think a list would be more appropriate. Before starting the list, I'm looking for other options and opinions. Thanks Naysie (my tildes key is broken)

Lithgow, New South Wales → Lithgow – per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and WP:NCAUST Poudlehen (talk) 21:51, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 05:02, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, I don't know if I agree with this one. The town has a population of only 12K, and there are other places with the name, and there are multiple notable people with the surname, and there are multiple other similarly-spelled names that the reader may be searching for.
- I feel like the best thing to do here would be to move the dab page to the base name. Dr. Vogel (talk) 14:29, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with User:DrVogel, although I'll note that the current primary redirect has been in place seemingly without issue since 2008. 162 etc. (talk) 20:23, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- Given the primary redirect issue, let's run this as an RM rather than just set up a dab page at the base name. Dohn joe (talk) 22:27, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- Happy for this to go to RM. And the dab page doesn't need setting up, it already exists Lithgow (disambiguation) Dr. Vogel (talk) 00:46, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
- Move Lithgow (disambiguation) to Lithgow. Given the fame of the actor John Lithgow alone, I doubt there can be a primary topic of this term. Have a look at the numbers. BD2412 T 03:54, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- Move Lithgow (disambiguation) to Lithgow as the pageview evidence presented by BD2412 shows that the surname and a particular person with the surname far exceed the town in views. Pikavoom Talk 06:19, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- Move Lithgow (disambiguation) to Lithgow per above. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:38, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- Weak move DAB to base name per BD2412, while John is a PTM he gets many more views and there are several other uses. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:40, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
