Correct pronounciation of 縯[edit]

I think the correction pronounciation of 縯 is yǐn, not yan. However, it seemed widely mispronounced as Yan, for some reason. Anyone knows more about this? Snowybeagle (talk) 06:41, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yin is the archaic pronunciation, which is preserved in Cantonese and other dialects. Most modern scholars use the modern pronunciation Yan. -Zanhe (talk) 19:52, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 6 October 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to Liu Yan (Xin dynasty). Obviously a consensus to move away from the current title and the best of the two arguments is for "Liu Yan (Xin dynasty)". Jenks24 (talk) 13:21, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Liu Yan (Bosheng)Liu Bosheng – The point of disambiguation is to not use confusing or hard-to-understand disambiguators, as the current title did. The history book Book of Later Han almost entirely uses his courtesy name "Bosheng" to refer him. If one insists on using his real given name, there's a problem with the character being able to be romanized as either "Yin" or "Yan" (see the section above on this talk page). Even if we disregard this problem, it's hard to find a really good disambiguator. Therefore I think Liu Bosheng is probably the best solution per WP:NATURAL.
