Dating Austen's L&F
[edit]It's a bit odd to refer to Lady Susan as an "1871 epistolary novel" when its author died in 1817. It's true that Lady Susan wasn't published until 1871, long after the author's death, but it was written in the early 1790s. I'm glad that this L&F page links to the one for Lady Susan--a place where readers can find clarification--but it still might be nice to explain that that this film is based on Austen's juvenilia, writing she produced as a teenager and never intended for publication.
I bring this up in part because so many people wrongly think of Austen as a Victorian writer, and this 1871 date may help perpetuate that misunderstanding.

- Lede updated to reflect that it was the first published date for Lady Susan and other Jevenilia. Fountains-of-Paris (talk) 20:17, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Sources for expansion
[edit]- That linked article is of interest for reading and for inclusion in this article. It also contains material which can be added to other articles of the Stillman sibling pages at Wikipedia. There are no images of Stillman himself available on Wikipedia although Google images seems to have dozens of publicity stills, maybe one or two could be brought into Wikipedia for use here and on some of the other Stillman articles at Wikipedia. Box office
[edit]At the time of writing Box Office Mojo fails to include the international gross in the box office totals and only provides the North American domestic total of $13,127,142. Please do not add other figures until Box Office Mojo fixes their totals. -- 109.79.68.153 (talk) 19:43, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- I have found TheNumbers.com to often be more reliable than Box Office Mojo, they list the worldwide total as $15,831,262. Box Office Mojo usually fixes their figures eventually, but you can always replace them with another source, there is no requirement to use them when they fail to provide accurate figures. -- 109.79.68.153 (talk) 19:46, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- Article has been changed to use The-Numbers.com -- 109.79.117.155 (talk) 20:15, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
Date formats
[edit]I've just realised that as the film was shot and produced in Europe, shouldn't the date formats actually be Day/Month/Year instead of the U.S. Month/Day/Year? - JuneGloom07 Talk 17:08, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

Distribution
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
Just wanted permission to change distributors as they are only North American distributors and the film was made by the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and the Netherlands. Please reply soon. FloorMadeOuttaFloor (talk); 08:06, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
misspelling in Wiki article on Love & Friendship
[edit]There are several misspellings of friendship in this Wiki article this manner: "freindship". It would be nice if the person editing this page were to correct these. Thanks. 2604:3D08:1A7F:E030:F455:47BC:3850:CA21 (talk) 21:29, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- In the two places this occurs, it is intended - as the spelling of the Austen title in question was Love and Freindship (although as explained in the article the film Love and Friendship is based on another work, Lady Susan. Ponsonby100 (talk) 18:09, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
