RFC: status of league

[edit]

In July 2016, Magnolia merged into another league in Jackson, Capital City Roller Girls, which neither has its own article as of yet, nor is it a WFTDA-member league. I have updated the article to reflect this. Question: seeing as there is little coverage of Capital City, is there any point in renaming this article to the merged org's name? WFTDA status did not come with the merge. Also, the only announcements to this merger were on both leagues' facebook pages here: [1] and here: [2], and I can find nothing about the merger in local press, on the Capital City website nor on archived versions of the old Magnolia site. We generally don't allow citations from facebook, so I haven't included them in the article. Echoedmyron (talk) 23:46, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've also searched widely for coverage of the merger, and can only find mentions on the Facebook pages. There is reasonable amount of coverage of Capital City (e.g. [3], [4], page 12 of [5], so there could be merit in a rename, though it's an odd situation that much of its notability comes from a merger which hasn't been reported... Maybe I'll tinker and see what I can come up with, but I think it may be slim pickings. It is odd that the first source you gave mentions a membership boom, without indicating the source of the new members (ie, the other league that joined). Seems for whatever reason people may have been happy to leave the Magnolia history behind. Echoedmyron (talk) 00:45, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
