De Péréfixe mentioned in separate article in Wikipedia. Help.
[edit]Ok, I’m terrible at source code and my web interface is far from fully functional on the iPad. This Archbishop of Paris is referenced in a separate article:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardouin_de_Péréfixe_de_Beaumont
Most of the text of this article on Mère Angelique and Port Royal Monastery is a direct port from the old Catholic Encyclopedia article and so it’s no surprise that not all of the cross references were inserted. I will see if I can find the primary source for the quote as well. Father V (talk) 18:41, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
Original source for Pure as Angels, Proud as Demons
[edit]I am not sure if it is the only source, but the most widely known work of that era was by Jean Racine who was educated at Port-Royal. His Abrégé de l'histoire de Port-Royal (1664) has the quotation near the end of the book, put into the mouth of the Archbishop « qu'à la vérité elles étoient pures comme des anges, mais qu'elles étoient orgueilleuses comme des démons ; ». The wiki source on this is https://fr.wikisource.org/wiki/Page%3ARacine_-_Abrégé_de_l’histoire_de_Port-Royal%2C_éd._Gazier%2C_2e_éd.djvu/198 . Oddly the actual screenshot has this as pg. 172. Presumably this is because of the difference in 1st and 2nd editions. Father V (talk) 21:45, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
