Nomination

[edit]

Hey people, I would like to nominate Marie Jeanne as a good article! I'm sure you have noticed I have extended and rewritten it! Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated as well as input on how it can be improved further! Merci beaucoup HRH the Prince of Piedmont (talk) 22:03, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest removing predecessor and successor parameters from the infobox per Template:Infobox Royalty/doc ("For use in succession whose titles are entirely and directly hereditary"). Those fields are never used for titles gained by marriage. Surtsicna (talk) 22:42, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Helloo! Thank you! Did it..but I removed the tenure field you put in and replaced it with consort – I don't like duchess consort of X – less is more, looks like it flows. Anything else you think? HRH the Prince of Piedmont (talk) 22:54, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you know the succession boxes at the bottom, they are not necessary are they? I think they look orphaned most of the time lol HRH the Prince of Piedmont (talk) 22:59, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I dislike succession boxes at the bottom when they mention only a "low" title held by marriage. I do, however, think that having succession boxes for hereditary titles held suo iure is useful. As for "Duchess consort of Savoy", I thought including the word "consort" would be useful because she is called "Marie Jeanne of Savoy" and a reader might be led to think that she was Duchess of Savoy in her on right. I don't mind removing it, though. Surtsicna (talk) 11:34, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I agree; Marie Jeanne was Duchess of Aumale in her own right as well as Countess of Geneva but I was unable t find any dates relevant to this! I think it should be left tbh HRH the Prince of Piedmont (talk) 14:09, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What's happened to the nomination! I don't like silence lol :O Prince LouisPhilippeCharles (talk) 14:43, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Be patient ;) Sometimes one has to wait for months, I'm afraid. This article is currently fifth in line for review - while Philippe I, Duke of Orléans, is second. Surtsicna (talk) 14:53, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Marie Jeanne of SavoyMarie Jeanne Baptiste of Savoy-Nemours – The title must be moved from "Marie Jeanne of Savoy" to "Marie Jeanne Baptiste of Savoy-Nemours". "Baptiste" is always in her name, because she was baptised in honour of Saint John the Baptist, as you can see on her engraved portraits and in the bibliography about her - I refer obviously to Italian bibliography, the most interested in her life. The Nemours is necessary because she is not a member of the principal line of Savoy (like the Carignano); in her tomb there is only the Nemours (Nemulciensis). • Support - per sources such as Clarissa Campbell Orr Queenship in Europe 1660-1815: The Role of the Consort 2004 Page 17 "Marie-Jeanne-Baptiste of Savoy-Nemours, born at the Hotel de Nemours in Paris on n April 1644, was the elder surviving child of Charles- Amedee of Savoy, penultimate duc de Nemours, and duc d'Aumale and of the Genevois (table 1)" Most references seem to include the hyphens but a minor point. Portrait as a widow - probably wrong person

[edit]
Marie Jeanne in widows clothing by an unknown artist, held at the Ducal Palace of Modena.
Anne of Austria in mourning by Charles Beaubrun. Versailles palace.

The portrait as a widow is actually a quite bad copy of the portrait of Anne of Austria, queen of France, by Beaubrun. Same pose, face, clothes, jewels. Clearly wrong, this is not Marie-Jeanne. Where did the error come from? Should it not be corrected? Riyadi (talk) 14:49, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
