Response to question of notability[edit]

Marion was a curator, probably not one of the most respected professions, but the references certainly establish her notability. I would like to contest the deletion of this article. It is not finished and I have more references to add and content. Best Regards,

Would you consider, Barbara (WVS), having a go at integrating this article in to Stephen Foster Memorial#History, which seems oblivious of Marion Foster Welch and those antecedents of the memorial museum which originated with her. Yes, except I haven't found all the threads that connect these two topics together. The memorial, in its current form is largely based upon the donations of Lilly (I'm sorry I don't remember which one) and the museum that Marion ran was the precursor to that, but the references for the exact transition are, at this point, difficult to find. In addition, the term "Stephen Foster Memorial" was originally applied to the statue and not the building on Penn Avenue or the current memorial. When I get this all sorted out, with references, I think your idea would work. I also need to spend some time at the current memorial where there are texts available to help clarify things even better. Keep your eyes on the editing of this topic since I am in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette archives putting things together. Marion seemed to take GREAT advantage of her father's legacy and made many appearances to celebrate all the things that he accomplished. That is my opinion and won't appear in the article, but the bunny trails are endless. More time will help find the information we need to help with your suggestion. Thanks. No, not conected. I seem to do my work around Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red & wikidata, so I see many new women biographies as they arrive, and I interest myself in some of them, if I think they have issues or are extra-interesting. I've had a look through both the University of Pittsburgh publication on the family, and the summary of the larger memorial here, neither of which mention her planning or being involved in the financing. When was Welsh changed to Welch?[edit]

I notice that the subject married a guy named Welsh, but the name of the subject is Welch. So, when did the name change happen, or is this merely a typo? Stevie is the man! ^{Talk • Work} 21:13, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed this as well - that in news clippings her name reads as Welsh. In some material found online it is Welch/Welsh.Netherzone (talk) 16:42, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion re: order of information[edit]

Does anyone else agree that this article could be improved by focusing on her accomplishments in a section following the lead. Her early life focusing on her parents and childhood could be moved towards the bottom, before her death. I've seen other bio's organized this way. Are there objections to my making this edit? The lead is supposed to summarize the reason(s) she is notable. "Early life" is oftentimes the first section in a bio article. So, what I would suggest is splitting the "Family life" section up, into "Early life" (first section) and the rest pushed down into (one or more) other less important sections.
