Martin Davis (Jamaican footballer) → Martin Davis (footballer) – Wiki Football convention is to not use nationality. I'll a little unsure of how to name this one due to the existence of Martin Davis (Australian footballer) who plays "Aussie rules football" not "association football/soccer". I'm not sure of the naming convention for that sport. I guess the Jamaican can be renamed to Martin Davis (footballer, born 1996) if both sports naming uses 'footballer'. I'm not exactly sure of what name it should be moved to. RedPatchBoy (talk) 16:40, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose - I agree that it's not usual to use nationality to disambiguate between two association football players, but in this context (when one player is from a different sport entirely) it's usual, and the best way to differentiate - see e.g. George Tanner (Australian footballer) and George Tanner (English footballer) etc. GiantSnowman 16:47, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, I wasn't aware that was the convention for this type of situation. Thanks GiantSnowman . Should I remove this rename request or do I have to let it go through the 7 day period now? RedPatchBoy (talk) 16:59, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- I suggest leave it for now and see what others have to suggest. GiantSnowman 17:21, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
