  • Weak oppose: Although it is apparently possible to find sources that omit "Alves", among the sources cited in the article, five of them have "Alves" in their titles, and only two of them use "Max" alone. Both of the ones that don't contain "Alves" are not written in English (see WP:USENGLISH). Since using a mononym (especially a common given name) is unusual, we wouldn't do that unless sources used that form consistently. Using a first name as a nickname is pretty common but also generally informal, and Wikipedia should generally have a formal tone. Removing "Alves" also makes the title ambiguous. "Max Alves" is more concise and less complicated and easier to remember than "Max (footballer, born 2001)". — BarrelProof (talk) 09:16, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - both 'Max' and 'Max Alves' appear to be used, and using the surname is probably more useful, and common in English language media, see this and this and even Portuguese language media like this. GiantSnowman 19:06, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - given the lack of overwhelming use of Max alone as discussed above, it's better to naturally disambiguate the title. -BRAINULATOR9 (TALK) 03:36, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
