Zainichi

[edit]

I'm not sure if it is necessary to add about Ogasawara being a Zainichi...I remember him gaining a Japanese Citizenship in 2003 for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Luckyj 02:26, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why not? It's his heritage and it is very well known by this point, and other Japanese athletes of Korean descent has it explained in their pages also (See Mas Oyama or Isao Harimoto for example). The story would be interesting to mention too since while one has to typically wait 1 year to gain Japanese citizenship after applying, Ogasawara got special consideration and got it done in two days for Athens olympics (after convincing by Nagasima, the manager). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.252.146.46 (talk) 17:22, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
