Chunks missing
[edit]The History section has big chunks missing, relating to the progress from what is described as a spoon brake, basically thus:
- Stirrup with shoes acting on rim, bicycle-style, mechanically actuated lever/cable/linkage
- Pivoting caliper with shoes acting on rim, bicycle-style, mechanically actuated lever/cable/linkage
- Band
- Faux-rim
- Drum
I think are ordered correctly, but there may have been overlap between systems and 'manufacturer's' variations (manufacturer=bikebuilder), fitting standard components from OE accessory-product suppliers, as were variously available.
Honda re-introduced caliper rim brakes with shoes/blocks directly acting on the aluminium rim-sides (alloy wheel rim) for their Ultra-Lightweight (50cc) race bikes (MotoGP) during 1964, 1965 and 1966 race seasons which made sense, creating almost a 'consumable' item from the wheels, but dispensing with heavy conventional brake components, and allowing for experimentation with lightweight airflow-smoothing discs covering the wheel-hubs and most of the spokes see Honda RC116.
Really I would prefer if these variations were imaged, but may not be possible due to restricted availability and present article layout, unless converted to list-style with very small thumbs.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 02:18, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
Sections are inside other sections
[edit]Subject experts who know which type of brake type or component may be present in their appropriate section as the sections are jumbled here. For example the components in the section Drum Brakes and Disc brakes are not explained. Beastranger (talk) 14:09, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
