Voice role in The Help audiobook

[edit]

This article says she read the part of Aibileen. The article, The Help says she read the part of Minny. Which is correct? (Both say she is to play Minny in the film, which seems to lend credence to that role having been what she read.) LadyofShalott 21:07, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sister

[edit]

One sister is the morning newsgirl at WRKO radio in Boston. Erica or Erika (I guess) Spencer.

I say "I guess" b/c she pronounces it e-REE-ka, with the stress on the second syllable. wassupwiddat?

I thought she was SWEDISH or something until all this came out in the news. Is this a normal affectation for a black girl from Alabama?!

She also mentioned that most of the siblings had very weird names. Perhaps as one of only 1 or 2 with a "normal" name, she feels obligated to mispronounce it!! 216.50.220.35 (talk) 09:34, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate

[edit]

There have many incorrect media reports of Octavia Spencer's age. On her verified Twitter account, she personally attempted to clear up reports. She states the birthdate is May 25, 1972. https://twitter.com/octaviaspencer/status/161932759319842816Anwar123thegreat (talk) 06:03, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Spencer graduated high school in 1988, a fact that seems uncontested. Is there any evidence that she skipped two grades? Available public records (i.e. www.peoplefinders.com) list Ocatvia Lenora Spencer as 41 (which is what her hometown newspaper gave as her age in August 2011). I would say there is significant evidence - in fact, conclusive evidence - that she is 41, and so both dates should stay in the article. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 18:49, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As she states on her own twitter, that her birthday is May 25 1972. Then we should go with that, not some articles and records that are written by people who could get their information wrong. The actress however will certainly know her own birthday, so I believe we should go with that. Charlr6 (talk) 22:52, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the discussion above and an Entertainment Weekly magazine that states the same, I've changed it to 1972. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 00:48, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Entertainment Weekly doesn't settle anything. Why would it be more reliable, than, say, her hometown paper? All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 11:44, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to reply to an 8 year old thread, but she's confirmed on Instagram that she's actually two years older than she's previously claimed to be - [1]. Stellaseeker (talk) 16:23, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The link for the movie Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing and Charm School (2005) does not lead to a page about that movie; instead it leads to a page about its director, Randall Miller. There does not seem to be a page specifically about that movie. Although panned by many, there was a subset of viewers that liked it. I think it deserves a page of it's own, though I'm not the one to write it. 69.84.65.187 (talk) 07:05, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what to do about the link redirecting to the director's article. It does trick the reader but at the same time send them to the best info we have on the film (within the director's article it is covered somewhat).
@Just Another Cringy Username changed the article to a redirect in 2022. If you are interested you can read the old version of the article here.
Anyone is able to change the redirect back to an article at any time, maybe ask at Talk:Randall Miller for more opinions. Any article would need to meet Wikipedia:Notability (films). Commander Keane (talk) 07:22, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
