I told them I was ill
[edit]That was Spike Milligans tombstone, I think the writer of the article is confused. 83.70.34.218 17:37, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Spike Milligan, one of the great British comedians (e.g., the Goon Show, and several movies), survived Levant by about 20 years and may have 'borrowed' the epitaph for himself. Sussmanbern (talk) 06:23, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
¶ I would have appreciated some further detail on Levant's speech pattern. Apparently he stammered when young and it got progressively worse. In the early 1960s GRUMP magazine printed, as a bit of humor, that TV viewers seeing Levant would think "he won't survive to the end of the show". Sussmanbern (talk) 06:23, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
Levant's birth name
[edit]If Levant was really Jewish, I'm guessing he wasn't born "Oscar Levant." What was his birth name? InManusTuas 07:11, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
¶ HIs father's name was Max Levant. Both of Oscar's parents were Russian refugees, so it is possible that their name was Americanized or simplified coming through Ellis Island, but it was Levant by the time Oscar was born in Dec. 1906. Sussmanbern (talk) 06:28, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Oscar Levant.jpg
[edit]Image:Oscar Levant.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Discography?
[edit]According to Discogs' page here, Levant did over 50 recordings over the years. Shouldn't there be a discography in this bio? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.34.131.212 (talk) 04:24, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- Yes. It's just that nobody has yet. If you're up to working on it, that'd be very welcome! Herostratus (talk) 07:00, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Charlie Chan at the Opera
[edit]I just watched this movie. There is no character called Billy Starbuck, and Levant is credited only as the composer of the fragmentary opera about which the story revolves. I saw Levant numerous times on the tonight show when Jack Paar was host, but I didn't see him on screen here.Toyokuni3 (talk) 03:05, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
