Pre-2010 results
[edit]Need more sourced results (mentioning Own the Podium) from before the 2010 Games, particularly from the 2008-2009 season. --Kvasir (talk) 19:16, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Paralympics
[edit]One thing to remind ourselves is to include paralympic results as well as competitions from several seasons leading up to the Games. --Kvasir (talk) 18:30, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Name
[edit]It might be better to have this article re-written as "Own the Podium" (the umbrella body), as oppose to just the "Own the Podium - 2010" (the winter sport program). This would become a broader article including "Road to Excellence". Thoughts? --Kvasir (talk) 18:36, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Rewrite
[edit]In light of the article move per consensus, there needs to be rewriting of the article as Own the Podium the umbrella program with subsections on Own the Podium 2010 and Road to Excellence. --Kvasir (talk) 18:49, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Move?
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
This article has been renamed Own the Podium per move request, see below. --Kvasir (talk) 18:47, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Own the Podium – 2010 → Own the Podium —
- Rewritting article to focus on the umbrella program instead of the Winter portion of it. "Own the Podium" currently has a redirect and I cannot do it myself. Kvasir (talk) 19:05, 25 February 2010 (UTC) --Kvasir (talk) 19:05, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Object this should have a full WP:RM discussion, since the current article is not short, and a second article could just as well be started at Own the Podium. 70.29.210.242 (talk) 21:17, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Comment yeah, see above discussion. There may be yet another related "Road to Excellence" article as more editors take interest. My question is, do we need three articles covering one similar idea. Much of the history and program of "Own the Podium" is the same as "Own the Podium - 2010". "Road to Excellence" is probably of similar length, but shorter than "Own the Podium - 2010". --Kvasir (talk) 21:45, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Suppport This is a program, not a set date event. The program has been in place since around 2005 and there is no indication that it will be terminated. Beyond that, the WP:COMMONNAME is most certainly Own the Podium.--Labattblueboy (talk) 04:33, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Comment To put into perspective, this article was created in 2006 before the Turin Games (if memory serves), when the program WAS called "Own the Podium - 2010". The umbrella body "Own the Podium" and the summer arm "Road to Excellence" were created later in the year. "Own the Podium - 2010" remains the winter arm of the program. It'd be interesting to see what name the winter program will take, if still exist, for the Sochi Games.--Kvasir (talk) 18:55, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Support Btw, as the original author of this article I support the move. (obviously since I requested it) --Kvasir (talk) 18:59, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Support per WP:COMMONNAME. Resolute 00:33, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Support as there's no Own the Podium - 2006, Own the Podium - 2002 etc, etc. GoodDay (talk) 02:00, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Comment the program didn't exist back then, so there couldn't be a "2006" or a "2002". The program was specifically started for the Vancouver Olympics, because it is the Canadian Olympics. 70.29.210.242 (talk) 06:13, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- If there's an Own the Podium - 2014, then we can change back. GoodDay (talk) 15:19, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- That's the thing, it would've been made a subsection of the "Own the Podium" article, instead of a separate article. --Kvasir (talk) 04:46, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
