Airlines and Destinations section needs ongoing maintenance

[edit]

This section currently (13May2019) lists three destinations from Haifa: Eilat, Lanarca and Paphos. Lanarca was a seasonal charter, which ended last year. Justification for the Eilat entry is a breezy travel trade press news article on the opening of Ramon Airport, a dubious authority on actual flight operations for a different airport. Paphos is a seasonal charter, allegedly beginning at the end of next month. How is Israir selling tickets for the Paphos charters? Will anyone interested in this article actually confirm the Paphos charters don't get cancelled? Are there any airline flights actually scheduled to/from Haifa this month?

Checking my usual source for available flights for sale, matrix.itasoftware.com, there is no entry at all for Haifa. In contrast, Tel Aviv shows both Ben Gurion and Sde Dov. The website www.alternativeairlines.com/israir_airlines claims in their text that Israir flies to Haifa, but provides no Haifa flights I could find in its search engine. As best I could translate (limited Hebrew knowledge), no Haifa flight schedules are listed on the Israir website or the fine Arkia English language website.

From the technical side, I checked flightradar24.com for both scheduled flights and aircraft on the ground at Haifa. It has no information on scheduled flights and shows no airliners of any sort on the ground, including fixed wing aircraft of only two types, Cessna 172 and Cirrus SR22. I certainly recognize airlines serve cities where they don't leave aircraft for extended periods, but the lack of scheduled flight information on this extensive site suggests some fact checking is in order.

Writing from the other side of the world, I lack sufficient evidence to just remove the Eilat listing, but I urge someone local to provide supporting evidence, yea or nay, and either remove the Eilat entry or justify it with something more substantial than a news article about a different airport. Ideally this should be an actual published flight schedule, like was provided for Paphos, with a proper source to reference. I'd be delighted to work with an Israeli partner on this.
