post-olympic use

[edit]

What does it mean that the facility will be scaled back and moved north to Eton Manor? Are they going to take apart the building? Will there even be a building as I assume Field Hockey is usually played outdoors?63.167.255.151 (talk) 14:45, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There will be stands, and presuambly some other facilities for spectators, though it will basically be an open air venue. There will be at least two artifical pitches by the look of it, and probably a third for warmups, the last bit may be referring to taking up one of these aftr the Olympics and reusing the pitch surface elsewhere (they cost a fair bit of money). None of it's referenced though, so it's hard to work out. The official website may explain more. David Underdown (talk) 16:40, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Water-based Astroturf

[edit]

I've never heard of this, but it explains all the splashing I saw on TV. Is this a common field surface in Field Hockey? is there an explanation as to the benefits of using water-based artificial turf? PKT(alk) 22:45, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
