- Some of the references that are in French should have |language=French in their templates. Done
- Some of the references seem to be missing |publisher=. Done
- Like others said on Discord, the lead should be a bit longer. Maybe talk more about his playing career, with the Preds and Avs? Done
- "Guylaine Dion" Didn't find her birth name in the article cited. Done
Midget hockey is minkey, right?Minor ice hockey, right. Done- "Girard moved in with Julie Robitaille" Best to mention her as a power skating coach here. Done
- "$35 million contract extension with the Avalanche, carrying an annual average of $5 million, on July 31, 2019, Girard." End of this sentence is missing something. Done
- Maybe add his hobby of relaxing to his personal life section. (what hobby?)
- References needed for All-Rookie Team and First All-Star Team nominations in the table. Done
Not too much to fix. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 02:52, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- Done except for one. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:21, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

- ... that Samuel Girard (pictured) played his first game with the Colorado Avalanche in Sweden? Stone scores twice to lift Senators past Avalanche
- ALT1:... that at the age of 21, Samuel Girard (pictured) is the longest active iron man streak holder on the Colorado Avalanche? At 200 NHL Games, Girard is Finding Offensive Stride "he has appeared in 194 consecutive regular-season games, the longest active ironman streak on the Avalanche."
- ALT2:... that Samuel Girard (pictured) and his brother both played hockey, but his brother gave up the sport to allow Girard to continue? In Canada, the Cost of Youth Hockey Benches the Next Generation "Jérémy, aware of his younger brother’s potential, hung up his skates while Samuel continued to pursue the sport in Canada’s junior hockey system."

- I'll be claiming this for review and noting a preference for ALT2 as the hook that appeals most even to non-hockey fans, although I'd suggest proposing additional hooks as well as perhaps revising ALT2 to give more context as to who Girard is and what he did during his career. - Narutolovehinata5, thanks for looking it over. Ya, I was worried they'd be too niche so I have dropped some alts below. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 11:34, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- ALT2a:... that Samuel Girard, (pictured) who holds the longest active iron man streak on the Colorado Avalanche, was almost unable to continue playing the sport?
- ALT2b:... that Samuel Girard (pictured) was able to play in the National Hockey League due to his brother?
- Thanks for the new suggestions, but I think sticking to a wording more similar to ALT2 would still be a better option. ALT2a doesn't even mention his brother anymore, and neither of the new hooks mention that his brother played the sport as well which I thought was part of the appeal of the original. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:41, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- ALT2c:... that Samuel Girard (pictured) was able to play in the National Hockey League after his brother gave up the sport to allow him to continue?
- Thanks. I'm assuming good faith for the sources used as the NY Times article is paywalled for me and I had to use the French source to verify it (Google Translate seems to confirm it, however). ALT2c is almost good to go, however it could probably be revised slightly as the hook implies that he only got into the NHL because his brother quit playing ice hockey, but from the article it appears that his brother quit when they were young while the subject didn't reach the NHL until later. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:47, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- You're right but I was implying he would never had made it to the NHL if his brother didn't give up the sport because the family couldn't afford both. Also, thanks for AGF but I believe if you put the NYT URL into the Wayback Machine you should be able to bypass the paywall. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:04, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- While accurate, I'm not sure if it would be acceptable to others on DYK given that the connection isn't exactly direct. I'm willing to accept it, but I'm worried that if I did, the nomination could stall once it's about to be sent to prep due to possible accuracy concerns. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 13:01, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Narutolovehinata5, that is a very fair point. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:36, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- ALT2d:... that National Hockey League defenceman Samuel Girard (pictured) was only able to play hockey after his older brother gave up the sport?
- ALT2e:... that Frank J. Selke Memorial Trophy winner Samuel Girard (pictured) was only able to play hockey after his older brother gave up the sport?
- ALT2f:... that Samuel Girard (pictured) was only able to play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League after his older brother gave up the sport?
- Almost almost there. I really like ALT2d and I think we should be good to go with that one, my only remaining suggestion is to change "able to play" to "able to continue playing" to reflect the article text. In the interest of DYK review purposes, I'm noting that the article meets the other DYK requirements (promoted to GA on time, adequately sourced, free of close paraphrasing with the only flag being a quote that's cited inline). Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:14, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Narutolovehinata5, fair enough. Alright, so the final proposed hook is
- ALT2da:... that National Hockey League defenceman Samuel Girard (pictured) was only able to continue playing ice hockey after his older brother gave up the sport? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:24, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. ALT2da is good to go; image is also fine if the promoter decides to use it. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:46, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
