  4. (a) it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline;

    (c) it contains no original research.

  9. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:

Further comments

General

[edit]

*Per point 6b, clicking on the suitable captions mentions that all images need alt text, per WP:ALT  DoneMike Allen 01:11, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Intro

[edit]

*The sentence He encounters several people with past connections to him as he comes closer to escaping the asylum and its inhabitants who have instructions contrary to his survival. is unclear and very difficult to read.

  • In the sentence Along the way, Tapp also uncovers the origins of Jigsaw and his motives behind his tests, as well as learning the fates of those from the first Saw film. you should wikilink to the first Saw film.
  • Remove the word "Saw" in the sentence The development team also brought in James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the creators of the first Saw film, to write a new storyline and design new traps for the game. as it is redundant.
    • Probably would read better as The development team brought in the Saw creators, James Wan and Leigh Whannel, to write a new storyline and create new trap designs exclusively to the game. ? —Mike Allen 00:20, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The article mentions received mixed reviews, despite overwhelmingly positive previews. but so far I haven't seen a reference to back up the positive preview reactions.
  • I didn't see a source for the sentence They also have plans to make Saw their next big franchise as well as a spiritual successor to their other survival horror series Silent Hill, although a sequel is not currently in the works. - maybe I missed it, but if I didn't it needs one.

Gameplay

[edit]

*player controls should not be wikilinked

  • The sentence Other items, such as case files and cassette tapes are found hidden around the asylum to provide additional information about the asylum's past and background on certain victims. might be better as Other items, such as case files and cassette tapes found hidden around the asylum provide additional information about the asylum's past and background on certain victims. (the words are and to are removed)
  • and perform weak or strong attacks to fend off enemies that are encountered should just be and perform attacks to fend off enemies that are encountered
  • Also, Tapp is able to curb-stomp might flow better as Tapp is also able to curb-stomp.
  • hypos is a term I don't know. Hypodermic needles?
  • The game can be played at two difficulty settings; normal and hard. is a little crufty, and doesn't really help the article. I suggest removing it
  • 'A few minigames have been incorporated into the game. seems strange. Try Minigames are a major part of the game
  • The press a randomly assigned button wikilink is fine, but shorten it to randomly assigned button
  • The last two paragraphs are short enough that they could probably be merged  DoneMike Allen 01:42, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Setting

[edit]

*fictional does not need a wikilink

  • The asylum itself has many sections. There is a morgue, cold storage, crematorium, security wing, theaters, libraries, washrooms, offices, and other areas, most of which contain a key trap scene for Tapp to solve. is unnecessary. Shorten it to The asylum itself has many areas, most of which contain a key trap scene for Tapp to solve.
  • A large part of the asylum are cells change are to contains

Characters

[edit]

*gives hints to Tapp as he progresses -- change hints to clues DoneMike Allen 01:54, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Plot

[edit]

*Change This caused Jigsaw to get someone to heal him to This caused Jigsaw to have him healed

  • Jennings was a CSI for Tapp's division who framed an innocent citizen for a hit and run that he had committed years ago. is redundant as it was covered in the Characters section
  • Oswald was the newspaper writer who coined the name "The Jigsaw Killer" and eventually began blaming Tapp for the murders as he was the lead detective in the case. is redundant for the same reason DoneMike Allen 01:54, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Finale

[edit]
  • No issues

Development

[edit]

*Considering that the game was far into production, the owners of the Saw brand, Lions Gate, was considering publishing the game themselves. - Change was considering to considered

  • After some time, with the state of the game unknown, can be removed entirely
  • Konami plans to make Saw it's next big survival horror franchise that is unique for its visual intensity rather than traditional psychological terror. - "next big franchise" has been overused by this point. How about Konami plans to use Saw for its visual intensity rather than traditional psychological terror.  DoneMike Allen 00:17, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Additional content

[edit]

*A WP:GAMETRIVIA section. Extras and bonuses are not notable in and of themselves. Consider removing the section entirely. DoneMike Allen 02:05, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I only added this because it detailed the game during developmental stages and how it progressed throughout the process. Should this be deleted? Should the actual changes be refactored in the rest of the dev section with a "a few photo galleries of the game during development were included as a bonus feature with the final version of the game"
  • When it comes down to it everything about development that needs to be said is covered. Concept Art, maps, bonus features, etc come with every game nowadays, and there's nothing about this conceptual work that makes it particularly of note over other games. In the end it just hurts the article more than helping it, stating something that is pretty standard for all games. Honestly I'd just remove the whole thing. There's nothing in there of note that needs to be mentioned elsewhere, it's pretty much all things that appear in other special or standard versions of games. Concept art, videos, etc. I'd say the section might be highly appropriate for a Saw article on the Saw wiki, but it just doesn't belong here. --Teancum (talk) 13:30, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

*Akin to the films, Saw has been the subject of much controversy, even prior to the game's release. Similar to the rest of the franchise, the game has also been classified as "Torture porn" by its critics. can simply be Akin to the films, Saw has been the subject of much controversy, often being classified as "Torture porn" by its critics.  DoneMike Allen 00:48, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Overall

[edit]

It all reads pretty well. It needs some copy edits and other minor fixes, but could pass GA with updates. I can give you a week, or more if you feel you need it. Just keep me posted.

Peer review

[edit]

I thought I'd let it be known a peer review has been started since it doesnt seem to be evident by the nested and collapsed vg template. It's at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Peer review/Saw (video game) if you want to help out. GroundZ3R0 002 23:50, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
