More information?
[edit]As I've noticed this page is Protected. Apparently only authorized users can edit the page and add content to it, but there is little to nothing on this game in this entry.
What would be done about its expansion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bleuren (talk • contribs) 06:39, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why the article is indefinitely semi-protected. Per WP:PPOL, heavy and persistent vandalism could be the reason for doing that. Still, any editor may request unprotection at WP:RFPP. Or you can handle it informally with the protecting admin, MBisanz (talk). Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 11:23, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
NOTICE!!!
[edit]the Fortess War in Jangan Bandit Gate will be redone on 6/2/2009 because of illeagle use of bot, pk2, and more over to see invisible player and guild "Kusaders" are DisQualified from the Fortess War. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.196.231.253 (talk) 00:45, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Rootkit
[edit]This game includes a spyware Rootkit. Maybe a section on that should be added to the wiki?
An excerpt from this article: "it’s even been known to accuse you of hacking if an open web page has a suspicious title. "

External Links for Linux users
[edit]Both the Korean and International sites for Silkroad Online currently block Linux users. If you're running Linux and need to verify references on either of these websites, adjust your user agent to make it appear you're running Windows. A User Agent Switcher plugin is available for Firefox, which is what I use. Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 11:26, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Another external link
[edit]Im not sure if you allow this or not, but I was searching for information on this game and found this article then I found a whole wiki that is only about silkroad online the game. http://silkroadwiki.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ferocia (talk • contribs) 21:38, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- An external link to an open wiki is great, if the wiki is stable and active. Video game articles often accumulate a large amount of gameplay details, so linking an open wiki with gameplay details and leaving just content of most interest to the general public is handy to keep the Wikipedia article a manageable size. Unfortunately, the site you've linked seems to be gone, so I'm guessing stable and active it isn't. :( Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 20:30, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Critiscm?
[edit]Where did that go, what was said is actually true, bots logging in and crowding up the servers, lack of gm support, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.227.219.78 (talk) 10:42, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
I'll agree, Silkroad Online is well known for that. Its quite possible that the developers themselves have edited that out of the article.
Teabonesix (talk) 21:44, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Verifiability, not truth, is the standard. (Though boy, don't we know it's true!) We want to be able to find some independent reliable source making the botting claim, so the claim can't just get challenged, reverted, and fuel for an ugly editing war. Even if it's just something like a gamespot article listing several MMOs (including SRO) off-hand as examples of games with pervasive botting, that's good enough. Weird
[edit]I remember there was an article about Silkroad Online on Wikipedia, where issues concerning this game were brought up. Things like that gold farming bots were rising problem also players using bots and inability of Joymax to deal with this problems. So I was suprised when I saw this article wich doesn't mentions issues and its very similar in style with silkroad main site.
Also recently (past year) there is a problem with conecting to servers unless player has premium "ticket". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Garryola (talk • contribs) 21:09, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
When is it going to be unlocked?

Please change International version to 1.250
92.52.211.23 (talk) 06:29, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- Done, but do you also have a source you can cite to replace the current citation? I'm assuming this is the latest version, but it looks like the reference web site that was cited is not supporting this version, nor any version. -- Ϫ 07:04, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- There's no real official citation to reference. The official site (http://www.joymax.com/silkroad/Silkroad_Front.jmx?workURL=http://silkroadcp.joymax.com/dataroom/download.asp?) offers downloads on various sites, one being gamershell (http://www.gamershell.com/download_56926.shtml), this is a packaged version, as they do every 15-20 patches. That package is at 1.240, when you start the launcher it downloads the patches from their update server and updates your client presently to 1.256. -- jMerliN —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.192.253.30 (talk) 16:17, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
Pending changes
[edit]This article is one of a small number (about 100) selected for the first week of the trial of the Wikipedia:Pending Changes system on the English language Wikipedia. All the articles listed at Wikipedia:Pending changes/Queue are being considered for level 1 pending changes protection.
The following request appears on that page:
Many of the articles were selected semi-automatically from a list of indefinitely semi-protected articles. Please confirm that the protection level appears to be still warranted, and consider unprotecting instead, before applying pending changes protection to the article. |
However with only a few hours to go, comments have only been made on two of the pages.
Please update the Queue page as appropriate.
Note that I am not involved in this project any more than any other editor, just posting these notes since it is quite a big change, potentially.
Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 20:31, 15 June 2010 (UTC).
Races
[edit]Sorry my English is just so so.
As in the article, on the game you can choose a China or Europe person. The article should make clear the superiority of China people and the unique 5000 year culture.
Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.174.47.74 (talk) 03:18, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Major Revamp neeeded
[edit]So many things wrong with this article.
The article might be a lot easier to develop if it was specified which version of the game it was referring to. The international version is far different from the Korean and Chinese versions of the game. A suggestion would be to specify in the article page [2] or something of that nature
- Version for International Servers is way off (current client version is 1.297)
- International Version of the game is on Legend VII: Rise of the Thief-Hunter
- There one thing mentioned in the article (Triangular Conflict System) is no longer in application since the Legend VII update, and has been cut back to a Hunter-Thief pvp system.
- Major updates are known as legends
- Anything more than a standard game patch adds a plus to the current legend. And example of this can be seen in legends 4 and 5. Legend 4 introduced the lv. 100 cap (10th degree items)and the Qin Shi temple. Legend 4 plus brought an update to the Roc Mountain region. Legend 4 plus Hotan Fortress obviously added the Hotan Fortress to the game. Legend 5 was the release of Alexandria, along with it the level cap increased to 110. Legend 5 + introduced the Battle Arena, which offered a more intuitive guild, job, or simple party pvp style
- No mention of the number of servers the game offers for any version of the game (46 within the International Version), or login time (commonly referred to as the timeline)
- No mention of Guilds, Unions, Academy's
- No mention of the Honor System
- Doesn't describe anything about the different races of Silkroad Online (gameplay can greatly differ depending on your characters race and build)
- Does not comment on any events taken place within the game
- Doesn't mention the high use of 3rd party programs (bots)
- Just to save time, fails to mention a majority of the in-game systems
As the article stands, it does not provide any accurate details about the game in its current state. It has no screen shots to offer anyone remotely interested in the game a way to see what the game might look like. The information that is accurate within the article is all about previous updates. I would really like to see this page cleaned up, and would be willing to do it myself if the page wasn't locked...
